What's Your Why?

WHY?

Ideas and dreams are a dime a dozen but there is always that one that gets YOU. The one that pulls your heart strings, gives you sleepless nights and butterflies in your stomach.?

If you sit with it long enough and it still gives you that sense of drive and passion, and the only thing you can think about is it, then it may mean that you are ready to do something about it. It could be that it was a business idea, a partnership, a revenue stream or just a chance to change lives, whatever it is, you have three choices – to keep sitting with it, to act on it or discard it completely.?Whatever the case, your decision will impact your life significantly moving forward.

Let's look at the option of escalating your dream/idea; chances are, just making that decision will send you on a rollercoaster ride to your dream. How can you explain yourself to the rest of the world now that you've taken that first step? This is the big WHY? That interview question that makes your mouth dry.?Most times people describe WHY as a product of service that is needed, an idea that will reform the way things are done, an opportunity for betterment or simply a feel-good offering.

I recommend keeping it simple; instead of fluffing it up to present a verbose monologue, consider a clear and simple approach. The challenge is to sharpen your wordsmith skills to craft a statement that is legible, intelligible, and memorable.

Let me share my journey to actualizing my WHY.

I am passionate about order and clarity – things need to be tidy for me to function optimally. And I have seen how they bring the best in any situation.

After watching several of my friends struggle to transition from a hobby or idea/dream to a business, I began to seriously consider how I could assist in the creation of a process that would make the transition easier. I started my consulting practice after a few failed starts, and I'm continuously working with clients to crystalize their ideas/dreams one at a time.

One day, I was asked to make a presentation on what I do but I could not find the words to explain what I did let alone why.?So, I sought out a friend who knew me well enough to help me figure things out.?He had spent hours and hours trying to get into my head to figure out why I do what I do.?Then after a number of days, he texted me DREAM NANNY.?He could not have been more accurate let alone creative.?

So, what does a Dream Nanny do? I assist people in transforming their ideas/dreams into structured, efficient entities. By designing a process map, and workflows, the client is able to take steps towards defining their why.

Note to self

As you explore your why:

ü?It is important to have people (your tribe) rallying around you as you make this journey, to encourage you and hold you accountable.

ü?You will need to be courageous and tenacious – brace for the journey.

ü?Once you make this choice to grow, you will need to find the motivation to keep going – this is only possible through discipline – you have to do the work.
