The key to generating a sustainable flow of new business as effectively and authentically as possible is to ensure that our marketing communications are fully aligned with our personal why.
To ensure this alignment, it’s necessary to know your why.
The rationale behind the concept of knowing your why is both familiar and comfortable. From the perspective of strategic planning, knowing your why serves much the same function as a mission statement.
Typically, this element of a strategic plan communicates the purpose of the organization. In practice, this helps focus energy, actions, behaviors and decisions towards the things that are most important.
Certainly, knowing your why can play a critical role in continuing to undertake and effectively complete those many actions necessary to generate more new business.
Uncovering Your Why
Discovering your why is essential to living and acting authentically.
It’s also the magic ingredient of creating and maintaining a supportive base of ideal clients upon which successful businesses are built.
When guided by your why, you can use your natural abilities to accomplish what you want.
And when you’re clear about your why, you will instinctively know which actions are aligned with your authentic self … and which are not.
Conversely, without a clear-cut why, it’s easy to become distracted by the latest must-have tool or technique and waste limited time and money.
Invariably, our why is where we find the most joy and fulfillment.
In other words, those things we do and actions that give us the greatest joy are the ones most aligned with our why.
When we can combine our why with earning a living, it becomes much easier to attract, serve and satisfy more ideal clients.
Your why is not something you need to create as you would for a work of fiction.
Your why already exists: you only have to uncover it.
Your Why Defines What You Do
Like a mission statement, your why serve as the ultimate validation for justifying every action that you take in your business. As a result, your why defines what you do to attract, serve and satisfy clients.
Whatever actions you take that are consistent, or aligned, with your why reflect your true and authentic self.
As a result, these authentic actions will help you showcase your best stuff, which in turn will help you attract more of the kinds of clients who are right for you and your services.
