What's your vision by Rob Vandemark
I'm a dyslexic blog writer and also happen to work for a marketing firm. That sure doesn't seem easy, does it? Or even like a good idea. However, I love to be creative my imagination is beaming with ideas and thoughts constantly. One of my biggest challenges growing up was trying to convey my point of view using words.
I failed at that for over 35 years of my life. And just as a baby would get angry about not being understood for their wants and desires I also harbored and held a lot of anger for many years. It turned out that my dyslexia and the way my brain decodes my surroundings hindered my ability to explain my surroundings to others.
Now I sit and write utilizing a dictation software very carefully speaking every word. Taking my time to think about and to formulate a spoken message so the message can be clearly understood by the computer software that writes it, and the humans that read it.
My point is this it took me 35 years to figure out how to communicate clearly using the written word. Trial and error, anger and frustration, guilt and shame. I would put my foot in my mouth more times than I could count. I would run social tests just to see how people would respond. This was my education on communication. Thus I have realized that if others cannot clearly define your vision utilizing a set of words, phrases or pictures, then they will not understand the service or the product that you bring to market.
I leave you with this. Learn to talk about it and understand how it works, no matter what it is. Develop a passion for your products and your services and it will become natural for other people not just to buy what you're selling or doing, but come to love your vision as much as you do.
