What's Your Vision for a Greener Cleveland? Attend a Community Session ??

We want to hear your thoughts on how we can work together to build a more sustainable and fair future for Cleveland!?The City of Cleveland Mayor’s Office of Sustainability is working to identify ways to reduce the pollution driving climate change and make our city more resilient to the impacts of a changing climate, like extreme heat and severe storms, through updating our Climate Action Plan (CAP).

This plan can help us identify and implement actions that improve air quality, support resilient communities, improve quality of life, and support our local economy.?Share your thoughts on the types of goals and actions that we should include!

In celebration of the 2nd anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), we're excited to announce that nearly 350 Climate Mayors have committed to a collective electrification of at least 50% of municipal fleets by 2030 and expand electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.

This collective pledge ensures that at least 40% of new charging infrastructure benefits go to disadvantaged communities.?The mayors' commitment marks a significant milestone in the 10-year anniversary of Climate Mayors. With this new pledge, mayors nationwide aim to reduce air pollution, create green jobs, save taxpayer dollars, and send a powerful market signal to auto and light-duty truck manufacturers.

Anna Zaremba , Sustainability Manager for Nature-Based Solutions, recently took part in a vital discussion on "Promoting Waste Management and Tackling Marine Debris for the Indo-Pacific".

This event brought together a diverse group of activists, NGO leaders, and government officials from the Indo-Pacific region who are visiting the U.S. to study state government strategies for marine protection and solid waste management, with a focus on the Great Lakes.

The Cleveland Water Pollution Control proudly hosted these international guests through the Cleveland Council on World Affairs Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program, sharing insights on reducing stormwater runoff and safeguarding vital waterways. This collaboration highlights the importance of global efforts to foster a cleaner, greener future.

Under the leadership of Michael Bean , Energy Program Manager, and Anand Natarajan , Assistant Director, the City of Cleveland Mayor's Office of Sustainability hosted a State Department delegation from Japan focused on the topic of “Accelerating Clean Energy Deployment”.

During the meeting, the delegation was introduced to a range of ongoing city-led initiatives aimed at enhancing climate change resilience across the Greater Cleveland Area. Discussions emphasized the critical role of renewable energy in the region’s sustainability planning, showcasing how Cleveland is integrating clean energy solutions to mitigate climate risks and drive long-term environmental and economic benefits. The visit provided an invaluable opportunity for knowledge exchange, fostering international collaboration on advancing clean energy technologies and sustainable practices.

His role will focus on dissecting and understanding the intricate details of decarbonization projects, and then translating that technical knowledge into actionable and easily understandable steps for our community. Cedric's background in chemical engineering and his enthusiasm for sustainability will be invaluable as we work together to make meaningful progress in our environmental goals. We are excited about the new ideas he'll bring and look forward to his valuable contributions!

Mohamed’s dedication to analyzing our vehicle operations and Chloe’s creativity in crafting compelling communication content have been truly impressive.
