What's your take away?

What's your take away?

Every ending in coaching sessions the coach always ask the coachee “What is your takeaway from our session today?”. My question today to you is “What was your takeaway after leaving a job?

A few years ago, I was working in an organisation (I won’t mention the name out of courtesy). It was one of the worst jobs I ever had. My boss was a tyrant, a dictator and misogynist man. My son had his first seizure, and he didn’t allow me to leave the office. I was typing while my tears were wetting the keyboard.

When happily I resigned at some point, I was furious for long time! I talked to people believing that there might be a chance to change some things in the organisation. Read below two of the many take aways I had so far.

?Takeaway 1

?Never try to change a situation, a company when you know that the fish smells from the top. Unfortunately, in a few cases you cannot fire the owner or the CEO hahaha. I have no regrets in my life, but I am brave enough to acknowledge a bad strategy and a not a wise decision that I took. It is not easy to admit to yourself that you did a mistake. That’s the only way though to grow if you are serious about yourself.

"You are not your boss therapist or a toy to play with"

?You can of course blame everyone else but it is your life so nothing will change unless you change. Be careful it wasn’t a mistake that I resigned, no that was the wisest thing I ever done but it was a mistake trying to create a positive impact to an unhealthy organisation. Some people hence some companies do not want to grow but they are stubborn living in the past where fear was used as a motive for the employees.

?After a few months when I wasn’t angry anymore, I had an honest conversation with myself so I will not repeat again my mistakes. You are losing your energy, your time maybe even closing other doors for your future if you shouting to a wall.

Takeaway 2

?Never allow anyone to make you doubt your capabilities by asking you to do impossible tasks. It made me realize that some people will never be pleased simply because they have inner demons who are being projected towards you. How many people have you met that feel superior if they make you feel inferior? I am sure you have met a few of these type of people in your life so far, if you haven’t then you are lucky.

?When you are able to recognize a tyrant, a narcissist do you know how much time you will save? By saving time it means that you are saving your own life. Our life has a timer, and we don’t know when the timer will stop. Why waste your time with people who do not deserve your attention?

I could have handled some situations much better that I had, but again nothing would have changed except the fact that I would have left in a better way. I reminded my own saying that we should never burn bridges.

My question to you is what is your take-away? Do you feel a better person after leaving a job?

How would you rate yourself?

?When I was a child, I used to write reviews for myself because I thought that’s the way to becoming the person I wanted. Be like the people that I used to admire. I adore people and my mission in life is to help as many people I can through first aid training, coaching, yoga, fitness but you should never allow to anyone to make you fee "small" make you feel not enough.

?Last question for you. What is your review for you?
