WHATS YOUR "SECRET SAUCE"??

WHATS YOUR "SECRET SAUCE"?

For those who know me, I spend my fair share of life working in remote places (at least as much, as my professional life goes). At the moment I'm in France Caen, a beautiful little city in the Normandy region. But it's not the region or people I met here that I wanted to talk about. It's one particular place. Actually it's a street food vendor, a small family-owned business that reminded me of the importance of great customer service, great product and the importance of "secret sauce".

Importance of "secret sauce"

This place is called "Magic Beau Gosse". So what's so special about a local street food vendor? Well, it's how they sell their products. Firstly, they are located in the centre of town, which means - crazy competition. Everyone around operates in the same business field - food. Restaurants, cafes, bars, fast food chains, other street food vendors. So how do you make a stand and differentiate yourself? I think they managed it perfectly.

Great team = Great customer service = Great business

I have visited this place 7 times and every single time they "made my day". People who worked behind the counter were happy, engaging, relaxed and most importantly "driven". I don't speak French. For those who visited France, this is an issue. The staff of MBG did not care they greeted me every single time with a smile, engaged in conversation (small English talks and jokes), made me feel comfortable. In other words, they simply cared about my experience.

What's your secret sauce..?

So they have great customer service, ok a lot of places have. What not many places have is their "secret sauce". A thing that makes your business, yourself or your services unique. One of the kind, irreplaceable and makes you stand out from the competition.

Secret sauce - one of the kind, irreplaceable and makes you stand out from the competition.

Every single time they served me, I got asked: would like to try our "secret sauce". And every single time I said: YES! I mean who wouldn't...? It's the excitement of the unknown and a mystery that drove me back there: "what is their secret sauce...?" Now I don't know if they really even have one, I mean their product is great! But the thing that really caught my attention is the fact they sell the idea, not food. The mysterious "secret sauce".

I think we can all learn from this experience. The question is - what is your secret sauce..? How do you make sure you sell yourself and your message across in a manner that is unique, irreplaceable and standouts of competition.
