What's on your play list?

TL;DR - Writing down the things you want to play (making a play list ??) means you're more likely to do them. Here I share what’s on my play list. I’d love to know what’s on yours!?

My play list

As you might expect from the author of a newsletter called Play Well, I spend a fair bit of time playing. I’ve got some go-to ways I like to play, based on my play personalities. 4 of my go-tos are skiing, listening to music, playing sports with my kids, and doing crosswords. I’m grateful that I’ve been able to do all of the above with some regularity so far in 2023.?

But it can be hard to prioritize play. And even if you are able to prioritize play, it can be hard to prioritize certain types of play that you really like.?

That’s where the play list comes in. This isn't a musical playlist (though I did create a play-themed Spotify playlist of 10 uplifting mental health jams!) It's a list of things you want to play. By writing down the things we want to play, by writing them into existence so to speak, we’re more likely to do them.?

My work life got busier recently. And I’ve been thinking lately about 3 things I really love to play that I haven’t done in a while. So I made my own play list to help me prioritize these 3 ways to play.?

The mere act of writing my play list down helps me set the intention to go play. I’ve pinned it to the corkboard in the kitchen so I’ll have a daily reminder. And the ‘play by date’ of June 15th will keep me accountable.??

What’s on your play list??

Now it’s your turn. What play do you want to prioritize in the next 3 weeks? Write it down and pin it up! Then share your play list in the comments.

There's just something about the phrase "jam sesh" that is so totally fun ??

Great idea to make a “to play” list to incorporate into the perennial “to do” lists. Mine are playing with & reading to grandsons??, cheering for Pittsburgh Pirates when they play SF Giants, and playing piano, guitar, & drums (at home, no audience!)—to do by June 7.
