What's your Mount Everest ? Summit it.

What's your Mount Everest ? Summit it.

Each one of us has a few dreams that are irresistible. We want to achieve them before we are gone. I call it scaling the internal Mount Everest. Overcoming the internal fears, challenges, mindsets, constraints and so on. The real Mount Everest is one such dream or challenge that excites many of us. 8848m – the height of Mount Everest. By the way, that is also the cruising altitude of a jet aeroplane. Till date, fewer than 5500 people have summitted Mt Everest.

Vikas Dimri, a top banker, was one such dreamer less than a decade ago. Now, he is not just an accomplished mountaineer and but a successful Summiteer of Mount Everest. He conquered all his internal demons, first. He reached the top of the tallest mountain peak in the world in his second attempt. His reflections and sharings are worth their weight in Gold! He joined us at our session. Enjoy the conversation here.

This 70 min conversation with Vikas takes you through his climb of Mt. Everest, virtually, with some help from audio-visuals, pictures and his personal commentary. Enjoy the journey to the summit – beyond fears, listen a little about motivation and training, dealing with life-threatening crises and the eventual victory.

“No shame is retreat” says Vikas. Incidentally, in May 2017, his first attempt had to be aborted 800 mts short of the summit. Perhaps, a hard call to take after a so many years of toiling. However, He paused. He did not stop. Vikas went back in 2018 and conquered his dream!  Curiously, exactly similar was the experience of Edmond Hillary, The first mountaineer to reach there. When he failed in his first attempt, Hillary remarked something that has become legendary. He said to Everest - "You are as tall as you can be. I am growing stronger still". True to his word, he went back and conquered her.

  So, What's your Everest?

As you know, Everest is just a metaphor – for that one or few dreams one possibly has. We all have dreams. Some fleeting. Some abiding. What does it take to progress it and make it happen.  Well, the journey begins when you find your Everest. Hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did bringing it to you.
