What's Your Mission?

A few months ago I got to attend a gathering of very unique people. Among others, there was an Apollo astronaut, an F-16 pilot, a couple of Mt. Everest climbers, a successful businessman who owned several restaurants, a couple of Olympians, and a man who owned a manufacturing plant.

What impressed me about all these high achievers was their attitude. They were not trying to one-up each other and they did not brag about their achievements. In fact, none of them even brought up what they did for a living until you asked them.

But once you started talking to them, you could sense their passion for what they did. You could tell they all were professionals who were focused on what they each saw as their mission in life. They were all about doing what they did with excellence. They took pride in their work without being prideful.

In fact, you could sense that they truly admired the other high achievers in the room because they understood the commitment and hard work that the others had in the pursuit of their life dreams.

These were all ordinary people who had accomplished extraordinary things through commitment, focus, passion, and love for what they did.

I believe anyone can realize their dreams and make their life an adventure if they will simply believe in themselves and work hard enough.

What about you? What turns you on? What change would you like to make in the world? You only live once. You might as well make your life a masterpiece. It’s just a decision. Go for it.
