What’s your magic touch? ??

What’s your magic touch? ??

Hello again! Last time I left off in our Ikigai series, we were thinking about how to identify that passion that fuels us. (By the way, if you need a recap, you can find the first two editions here and here .)

The next step in the journey of discovering your Ikigai is identifying what you are genuinely good at. Learning how to align your profession with what you excel at and enjoy doing is the next key to unlocking a lifetime of happiness and that special ‘reason for being’. Let’s keep digging in below. ??

What are you good at? ??

Let’s face it, not everything we are passionate about necessarily translates into a viable career path. So, when it comes to those passions, where do your strengths and skills come into play?

I’m really passionate about art, traveling, and cats for example, but not all of these passions are something that I want to bring into my professional life.

Here’s an example: If you have that magical knack for problem-solving, are super detail-oriented, or just know how to say things in the perfect way, these are all special attributes that can shape your profession!?

What can you be the best at in the world? ??

I heard this sentence recently that’s really stuck with me: "Don't be the best, be the only."?

How can you carve out a unique niche for yourself in your chosen profession? Consider what you can do differently or exceptionally well compared to others in your field. What’s your special touch? ??

Identifying this unique selling point can be such a game-changer. It's all about pushing boundaries, innovating, and becoming a trailblazer in your chosen domain. ??

Pro tip: Don’t worry about competition. This world is so big that everyone can have a space to succeed!

How does this apply to your job? ??

Once you've identified what you're good at and what gives you your special edge, it's time to apply these insights (which help rekindle your overall excitement and drive towards whatever you’re doing, by the way) towards your current job or career path.?

If your boss is being supportive, build a community outside of work that is around your passion.

If they’re aware of your unique skills and are willing to help you develop them further, find ways to leverage this support to excel in your profession in new ways. For me, my team knows that I love to offer my creative input on our product and offerings.?

No matter what, it’s always a benefit to foster a community or network outside of work that aligns with your passions. A sense of belonging and community can provide you with additional resources, mentorship, and inspiration towards what drives you, and serves as a creative outlet, allowing you to explore your passions more deeply.
