My friend Joe Tait passed away in March of this year. His passing was a shock in its suddenness as well as the fact that Joe had a vibrancy that rivaled the sun. Joe was a husband, father, brother, son, mentor, and friend to many. He and I served on multiple boards together, raised money for kids time and again, coached students, and fought bureacracy all while Joe laughed and bemoaned the lack of wallspace left in his man cave due to the million pictures of him with kids and famous people.
Joe's passing left a hole. The hundreds of people who attended his celebration of life service talked about how Joe gave of himself and his time whenever asked. A few of the organizations Joe belonged to included: the Society for Information Management (SIM) where he held multiple board roles, Technology Networking Group (TENG), Technology Professionals Networking Group (TPNG), CEO Trust, Tech Impact/ITWorks, Temple University Alumni leadership, as well as supporting NCWIT's AspireIT awards, serving on the LaSalle Computer Science Advisory Board, Inspritec's Teen Tech Camp, and the PHISIM Foundation board.
Martin Luther King Jr. said, "Everyone has the power for greatness, not for fame but greatness, because greatness is determined by service." Joe led a life of service; he wanted his life to make a difference - and it did. We all should ask ourselves: what legacy will we leave behind?
Joe's wife Joan, son Josh, and the entire Tait family appreciates all the support, outreach, and offers of support. Given Joe was an avid networker and mentor, Joe’s family feels the best way to keep his legacy alive is to continue helping and mentoring students.
They have established the Joe Tait Networking Fund through Temple University which will go directly toward mentoring students and helping them network with alumni and area professionals.
The goal is to have this fund reach endowment level ($50,000) so Joe’s legacy will continue in perpetuity with no further fundraising. The Tait family is asking friends and family to take this one opportunity to donate to the fund by clicking the link below:

If we all do our part toward helping students, we might just equal the work Joe would have accomplished had he lived.
Thank you,

When I was job searching 4 years ago, Joe was one of the first people to send me articles about job search, networking, resume building, etc. He literally emailed me 50 documents on these subjects (all in one day). He met with me for lunch to do some networking and brainstorming and was very helpful. Joe was great at Networking because it was not just for him. He shared what he had. This was years after we worked together at Bio-Pharm. As a co-worker, he was loud and fun and a great guy and a very good friend. He loved Temple and Philly sports in general. He is still missed. I will gladly donate to this fund in his name.

8 年Joe was a friend of mine and a wonderful human being. He said an example for what networking is. Selfless and devoted to those around him. It'll be my pleasure to make a donation to this wonderful fund
