What's Your Job Search Sticking Point?

If your job search is going slower than you'd like, one of the first questions you should ask yourself is why?

If you want to fix a slow job search, you'd better first understand what's broken or at least underperforming.

Ask yourself:

• Are you getting enough interviews for jobs where you're qualified?
• Are you applying for the right jobs, or spending too much time on jobs that you "could do"?
• Are you getting the right kinds of interviews, or are you getting compliance, comparison, or courtesy interviews that are unlikely to turn into offers?
• Are you advancing in the hiring process at a high or low percent of the time?
• Are you consistently failing to move past a certain point in the hiring process?
• Are you often a finalist (often is 25%+ of your applications), but not landing an offer?

There are different solutions for each of these sticking points, but if you don't identify the correct problems (there can be more than one), you'll try the wrong solution. And that probably won't solve the real issues that are keeping your search slow.
