What's in your inbox?

I have something different today.

I believe in the power of my personal anecdotes to shift mindsets from good intent to exceptional impact.

Have you ever had an "Invalidation Inbox?"

Here's an example of an inbox:

Day 1:??"Hi LaTonya, thanks for connecting! I’ve created a resource I believe will be incredibly beneficial for you as a speaker. It shows how to secure more paid speaking gigs and automate the process."

Me: I graciously provided feedback on the gaps in his free resource.

Day 2: ??"Hi LaTonya, have you had the chance to check it out? I would love to hear your thoughts!"

Me: Again, I already offered my feedback—free of charge.

Day 3:??"Hi LaTonya, a couple of spots opened up in my Speaker Accelerator Program. You’ll land a TEDx talk in 90 days and add $50k of speaking business to your calendar."

Granted, I understand the process of selling, but here’s what he didn’t know:

??I’m already a highly valued keynote speaker, as evident from my portfolio.

??I’ve had conversations with TEDX about hosting events in my hometown.

??I have helped Black women get compensated for speaking.

This isn’t an isolated incident. It’s a pattern of invalidations that women experience through inboxes and posts on LinkedIn. And in some cases Black Women have been banned from this platform for advocacy and authenticity.

To help create an inclusive platform I have created the 'Guide to Building Inclusive Platforms' that walks through examples of racial, gender and a combination of both as microaggressions. In addition, it shares best practices with messaging and on "live" posts.

Because the shift from intent to impact starts with truly seeing and valuing us.

??Download Guide to 'Building Inclusive Platforms' today: https://lnkd.in/geT2BrWj.

I hope you will find it helpful.

What else would you like to see on this platform?
