WHAT'S YOUR DREAM TITLE
Organisations everywhere are sprouting new business titles in the midst of rapidly evolving markets and industries.
So what do we make of this trend? What does it mean? … And what will it mean for people in the corporate world?
Career adviser:?So in your dream world, what’s your dream title? CEO, CFO, COO, CMO, CHRO(P&C), CIO, CLO, CTO …
Student:?Hang on – what’s a CTO?
Career adviser:?It’s a Chief Transformation Officer, or maybe even a Chief Technology Officer.
Student:?That’s confusing.
Career adviser:?Well wait to you hear about a CPO … that could be a Chief Procurement Officer, Chief Performance Officer or Chief People Officer!
Or a CSO! … Chief Strategy Officer, Chief Sales Officer, maybe even a Head of Supply Chain.
Student:?My?Head Hurts! I think I just want to be a CFO.
Career adviser:?Excellent … a Chief Fun Officer! The world needs more of those!
Student:?…. (sigh) ….
The Insight
So many new titles are emerging because of the?ever-morphing organisational landscape. Companies are having to constantly evolve as they strive to adjust to shifting influences and priorities … possibly driven by the customer, the market, technology, employees – just to name a few.
As a result, traditional organisational constructs are having to rapidly change in order to keep pace. Adopting a 'continuous transformation' mindset will ultimately see you (and your team) succeed, regardless of title.
And remember - it's not the title which makes a great leader … It’s HOW they actually lead.
