What's on your "Bucket List?"

What's on your "Bucket List?"

When was the last thing you did something just for you? You are always there for your family and friends, are a constant and capable advocate for your clients and your firm recognizes you as the person they can count on to get the job done. More often than not, that does not leave time for you to do things for you.

Your Bucket List may be growing because very few things ever get crossed off.

I want to encourage you to do something special for yourself. There are 6 months left in the year for you to cross something off your Bucket List.

GLACIERS + GRATITUDE + GOING GLOBAL

I just returned from an amazing 7-night cruise to Alaska and I have to tell you, it is absolutely one of the best things I have done for myself in years.

Traveling to Alaska has been on my 'bucket list' for many years. So, at the last minute, following a client intensive coaching session in San Francisco, I boarded a flight to Seattle to hop on a cruise ship headed to Alaska.

There is a saying that cruises are for "the newly wed and the nearly dead." I met more nearly dead than newly wed (LOL!) but that was fine with me.

Several couples were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversaries and one couple was actually celebrating their 59th wedding anniversary. I had interesting conversations with people from all over the world - the UK, Australia and lots of Canadians.

Internet connectivity on the ship was intermittent when we were out to sea, so I had lengthy periods of forced digital detox. It was glorious!

GLACIERS

I have always wanted to see the natural beauty that exists in the part of the world that is Alaska and thought I better do so before the glaciers disappear. I visited the Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau. I do not have words to describe its beauty.

Seeing the melting ice in the water was also a beautiful sight. It was mesmerizing as I pondered how long the ice shards have been there and wondered about how long they will remain.

(Is cruising to Alaska on your "Bucket List?" If not, where would you most like to visit?  Comment below and let me know.)

GRATITUDE

Alaska and the seafaring journey to get there was serene, peaceful and awe-inspiring. There were times when I was overwhelmed with gratitude. I got the rest I needed and had time to be still and quiet which is HUGE for me, a person who talks for a living.

I was grateful for seeing the multitude of Dolphins, Orcas and Whales . . . Bald Eagles were plentiful . . . . and the scenery was indescribably beautiful. The sea was as smooth as class and the shades of blue actually reminded me of the waters of the Caribbean. Sometimes the only (small) waves and ripples in the water were those caused by the ship.

I was also extremely grateful for being an adventurous traveler. Travel thrills and excites me. Having traveled to nearly 30 countries and over 40 states, I have had the joy of meeting the most interesting people and creating special memories that have lasted my lifetime. I can't wait to see and experience much more of the world.

GOING GLOBAL

I am in tremendous gratitude for the Women Lawyers Global Network! The members of the group are extraordinary women who honor me with their presence. June's theme was Mastering Your Money Mindset. We will continue that theme for the month of July as well.

I have had the privilege of interviewing some amazing women, including Liz Wendling, The Lawyer Rainmaker Coach and Tracy Jordan Roberts, Esq., Certified Specialist Estate Planning Professional. I also introduced the group to Selma Elouardighi, PhD who is doing amazing things with Business Incubators and Accelerators in Morocco and the US.

What I love most about this group is the brilliance that lies within it. The women I get the pleasure of coaching are gifted and talented and are sharing their knowledge and wisdom. They are also sharing things they find challenging which allows them to receive not only my coaching but also advice and support from their peers.

I look forward to learning what you plan to check off of your Bucket List this year. Comment below and let me know.
