What's Your Blue Sparkle?
Hi everyone! Jon Shanahan and Rae Shanahan here, taking over the Benefits Pulse Newsletter for a special Blue Sparkles edition.??
Blue Sparkles are how we celebrate all of the good things—professional and personal—with our Solvers. Many of our teams start off their meetings with a round of these and we love to extend this to our clients and now, you!?
November is traditionally a month of gratitudes and reflections. While we believe the habit of gratitudes should extend year-round, we invited our Solvers to share what lights them up each day—at work and outside of it—in the form of Blue Sparkles.??
Let’s dive in.?
Our incredible service teams are at the heart of what we do?
Tech with Heart is our motto—every record, every interaction, every line of code we work at Businessolver impacts a human at the other end. This philosophy truly comes to life through our service teams this time of year as they partner with our clients for peak annual enrollment and support members with their benefits.??
"I chose Businessolver because of its dedication and commitment to putting people first, along with its focus on innovation and empathy. For me, it aligns perfectly with my values, and I'm very proud to be part of a team that truly cares about making a difference." – Rome Ronely Clark , Member Advocate?
"As a member advocate here at Businessolver, I find joy in working with a great team of dedicated individuals who strive for greatness daily." – Hera Durrani , Lead Advocate?
Giving Back is a pillar of how we show gratitude for our communities
The Businessolver Foundation does a lot for communities near and far. This year, the Foundation hosted six service trips, including Miami, Chicago, and Denver, where Solvers worked directly with community leaders to support residents and outreach groups. Giving Back is one of our core tenets at Businessolver and we’re grateful that our Solvers take these opportunities to engage with their neighbors throughout the year.?
“My blue sparkle has been traveling to several cities throughout the US on our Solver Service Experience trips. ?With each trip we learned about the cities we were in, issues facing their communities, DEIB issues and how we could help. ?The ability to become that integrated into the work of the non-profit sector has brought so much joy and optimism to my life. ?Not to mention, the incredible opportunity to do all of this side-by-side with fellow Solvers.“ - Carrie Clogg, CAP? , Director of the Businessolver Foundation?
Our DEIB committee helps us build a culture of excellence each day
When Businessolver adopted our permanent Workspace Anywhere remote policy in 2020, it gave us even more opportunities to hire incredible talent from across the U.S. and diversify not only our talent but the world views and experiences that help make us who we are today. Our DEIB committee has become a strong foundation of our culture.?

"I love that our DEIB program is grassroots, not top-down. Leadership supports it by providing a framework, but they don’t direct it. With guidance from an independent DEIB consultant, volunteer cohorts plan and deliver initiatives that matter to us. We’re not just participants—we bring DEIB to Solver Nation!” - Jeremy Nash , Learning and Deployment?
"Finding my 'why' and being able to live it out each day is important to me. At Businessolver, I was able to develop my why to focus on expanding and enhancing all of our knowledge through inclusivity." - David Chasse , Client Services Champion?
“My blue sparkle is that I define who I am.?It's not what people call me, but what I answer to. Diversity is about all the unique and wonderful characteristics we authentically bring and how it shows up in our individual values, intentions, and presence in ourselves and for others.” - Asha F. , Member Services Supervisor?
“As a gay man, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) is essential because it creates spaces where everyone feels valued and empowered to thrive while respecting others for who they are. It fosters shared values of understanding and acceptance, breaking down barriers and celebrating the uniqueness that strengthens all our communities together.” - Corey Jacobson , Member Services Trainer?
Breaking News! Our own Carey Mckenzie is named an Inspiring Leader
Please join us in celebrating Carey Mckenzie , Chief Client Officer, on being named an Inspiring Leader by Inspiring Workplaces ! We are so thrilled to have your expertise and leadership at Businessolver . The impact you have on our Solvers and clients is felt every day. Congratulations, Carey!?
Here are a few words from Solvers that illustrate just how incredible Carey’s leadership is for our clients and our people:?
“Carey consistently acknowledges my contributions and emphasizes how they positively impact our broader team and the Businessolver organization as a whole. He actively listens to my concerns and offers valuable insights on how we can tackle these issues both in the short and long term. I especially value his ability to communicate difficult messages in a way that allows for questions and thoughtful processing. He empowers his leaders to take the reins on initiatives, drive change, and innovate. This leadership style not only boosts my confidence but also fosters a supportive environment where everyone can thrive.” – Leah Moyer , VP Client Services?
“Carey knows and understands Client Delight…what is needed to meet the clients where they are, the simplicity of doing the next right thing, and the impact that has on our clients and internal teams. I am re-energized, inspired, and motivated to help support our internal teams in delivering best in class service to our clients. I attribute this ‘recharging of the battery’ to the time Carey has spent with me sharing his expertise, vision and expectations. I am appreciative and most importantly ready to go!” - Tiffany Blazenko , Senior Director of Client Services?
Tell us a blue sparkle!?
As we wrap up this gratitude takeover, we hope you’ll join us in the comments to share some of your own Blue Sparkles!?
This year, we’re especially grateful for our Solvers and the culture they show up to create each and every day.??
We hope you have a great Thanksgiving break and can bring some extra gratitudes to your tables this year.?
