What’s Wrong in Your Company?

What’s Wrong in Your Company?

Your company's future isn't just about what you do today, but also about planning for - and being agile and adaptive - for success down the road. In the image, I share 15 guiding points that can help you figure out where your company stands when it comes to being ready for what's next.

These points boil down to six essential messages:

  • Future Focus: Is your daily grind taking over your future plans? It's all about balance. Create a vision that looks after today and gears up for tomorrow.
  • Purpose and Engagement: A company without a real purpose will struggle to keep moving forward. Get your team excited by making sure everyone's on the same page with what the company stands for.
  • Short-Sighted, Closed Strategy: Keeping strategy talks only at the top is a missed opportunity. Open those doors and let everyone bring their ideas to the table.
  • Innovation Across the Board: When innovation is hindered by hierarchy or department silos, it's time to reevaluate. Foster an environment where innovation is everyone's business. Even better, drop the word and term innovation and just do it. Less talk, more action.
  • Behavioral Metrics: Sure, results are important, but so is how you get there. Set up ways to measure and appreciate the journey, not just the destination.
  • Embrace Agility: Shed the weight of cumbersome processes to build teams that are nimble, adaptive, and resilient. By fostering a culture of quick, empowered decision-making, you'll prepare your company to face future challenges with confidence.

I’m curious about your perspective. If you could add to this list, what elements would you include based on your experiences? Share with me and other readers to help us grow a better collective understanding of warning signs to watch for. Thanks!
