I began this newsletter series with the question: “What’s Wrong With You?”
My official belief and answer is... “nothing”. You are whole, complete, and wonderful. =)
While that would make this series incredibly short, I also realize that many folks are dealing with significant challenges that throw a wrench into their best laid plans.?
If you’re reading this, you likely have a vision: “Living your best life”, “Have it all”. At the least, how great would it be to “feel normal” or connected to the world and people around you.?
The place to start is identifying your internal narrative. What are the conversations that you have with yourself and others that never seem to go away??
Let’s start with some examples. Do you ever say the following:
What’s wrong with people?
Why don’t they listen to me?
When will I catch a break?
Why does this keep happening to me?
Sound familiar?
Well, one way to start is by acknowledging to themselves that these issues are real-and they intend to fix them. Think of the sense of calmness they will feel if they acknowledge these feelings of self-doubt and their intention to address the issues. Think of the inner peace they will have when they resolve the issue and erase those feelings from their mind.?
Likewise, if you’re a business owner, have you lost sleep over questions like these:
Why didn’t I think of that?
Why don’t people do what I would do?
Why didn’t I see that?
Why don’t they listen to me?
It’s hard for people who are immersed in running their business to take the time to focus on their shortcomings, as opposed to those of the people who work for them. After all, the business owner has to worry about the entire business-year-to-date earnings, exploding expenses, personnel matters, etc.?
Sometimes, the boss is too close to the business and needs to step back.?
By taking the time to acknowledge their own self-doubts, addressing those issues, and moving on with self-confidence, a business owner can change their behavior. They can stop being confrontational, continuously questioning the work product of employees, etc.??
It will make for a better run business with a happier and more productive workforce.?
Want to improve your life 1000 fold? It may be time to get help with your own internal dialogue...
What’s wrong with you? Perhaps nothing. =)
Or this might be the perfect opportunity for that mental tune up you’ve been needing.

2 年What is wrong with you? Great question, Melinda, thanks. Wow… that is a wake up slap in the face – and one that is needed. Factually, NOTHING may be “wrong”… but my perspectives, understanding of any given situation, problem, issue or circumstance at a given moment in time - MAY contribute to my not being fully effective and/or successful. Gabrielle Bernstein once said, “If you're wondering what I mean by "miracle", it's simple: a miracle is a shift in perspective - from fear to love.” And I add …. to a more successful ‘usage’ of the real YOU, in your private and public life.

2 年"It will make for a?better run business?with a happier and more productive workforce." Great statement, Melinda, any boss fixing his internal turmoil will make his workforce a lot happier and productive. His workforce may try to fix it in him, but few bosses could be grateful for this help. ?? So that's where you come in.
