Leslie Blaize, CPSM

B2B Copywriter A/E/C & Case Study Expert

What she’s doing that’s working:

  • Lots of outreach
  • Video presentations on her topic
  • Taking baby steps

I'm getting new clients... I just got two inquiries because they heard about me. So sometimes it's a long game. You just, like you say, have to keep plugging along.
It's baby steps. And if things don't work out, don't take it personally, just move on and go to the next step.

Antonio Meza

Inspirational Communication Consultant

What he’s doing that’s working:

  • Strategic content that points him toward the kind of work he wants to do
  • Posting new content consistently

This year has been very meaningful, very special. I came to this idea of creating content that takes me in the direction of the work I want to do, not only the work I have done.
And by being very consistent, I'm starting to get some traction. A lot of people are liking them. They're reposting them. They are sharing with their own thoughts and I'm even getting a few inquiries already about what I do.
And it's also giving me confidence because the more I do it, the more positive feedback I get.

Nanette Asbury

Marketer, Designer & Consultant

What she’s doing that’s working:

  • Creating good content
  • Keeping up her consistency
  • Relying on her community

I've been in the SMP group for almost a year, and I love it. I really love the group collaboration, group learning.
You lead it well, but you also really help us to learn from each other. So I really enjoy that. I think that's what I get the most out of - knowing that I have a group and that I feel like I belong.
If you really participate in it, the group helps you to stay with it and not slack off because you could easily put it to the side when you get busy. It's all about building the funnel so that you have something when it gets slow.

Amy Jahnke ?

Graphic Designer

What she’s doing that’s working:?

  • Changing her mindset around content marketing
  • Publishing a regular newsletter
  • Just moving ahead - ideas keep coming!

Just a month after I launched my first newsletter, I've had three calls with prospects and have started multiple new projects.
So I wish I would have done this sooner and I really appreciate everything that the SMP has done.
I was very worried about starting to send a newsletter and not having content for successive newsletters. And that kept me from starting.?
I found that as I keep writing more, more ideas keep coming to mind. So that actually is not at all the problem.?
Basically the kick in the pants to get started was what I needed.

Donna L. Batchelor, MBA, PMP ?

B2B Copywriter

What she’s doing that’s working:

  • Following the “Weekly Marketing Schedule” template from the Simplest Marketing Plan
  • Finding accountability buddies on Focusmate

I really wanted to hit the road as hard as possible this year and needed all the help I could get. And it has been phenomenal. This has been my first full year at it and it's been awesome.
It's so easy for marketing to fall either to the bottom of the list or fall completely off the list.
The Weekly Marketing Schedule is just one page, but it makes it so easy to put everything in one place. And I use Focusmate to fill it out and have it ready to go on Sunday night.

Lynda Dell, “CopyMagic”

Digital Storyteller, Content Strategist

What she’s doing that’s working:

  • Implementing the tools of The Simplest Marketing Plan
  • Publishing her new newsletter
  • Making business friends & leaning on her community

I leaned into making business friends. I joined a marketing communications team and grew into the role of blog editor and content strategist. And I borrowed the confidence from that to land one of my largest copywriting projects.?
Normally, I would have just said, ‘Oh, I can't do that. I've never done that before.’ I would have had that voice in my head.?
But I borrowed that confidence that I gained from making business friends.

A huge thanks to these fantastic writers, designers, marketers, and strategists who volunteered to share their tips with us today.

Our community is stronger with y’all in it!

Apply Their Success Tips to LinkedIn

The top 3 tips I’m seeing from my most successful Simplest Marketing Program members are:

  1. Posting good content, consistently
  2. Taking baby steps forward
  3. Leaning on their community

To attract more clients next year and get “unstuck” for good, try applying all three of those tips here on LinkedIn. For example, you could:

  • Post to LinkedIn on a consistent basis – it doesn’t have to be daily!
  • Start a new LinkedIn newsletter
  • Make “business friends” by sending connection requests to other people in your field (not just potential clients)
  • Comment on their posts to build your relationship and your reach at the same time
  • Commit to taking one “baby step” on LinkedIn every day

Thank you all for sharing! I love this idea!! Keep sharing and keep growing and learning! I like the honesty as well. I think we all have some fear to put ourselves out there and not sure if it will have the results we wanted. Even if it takes hours to do something like a video. I appreciate all of you!
