Whats waiting when the world reopens?

Well, 2021 might not have got off to the best of starts, but I think most of us saw this coming. So, as I sit here looking out of the office window at the pouring rain and contemplate my walk to the car through said pouring rain and a temperature close to freezing, my eye was caught by some of the fabulous brochures in front of me and I started to think of ‘what awaits us as the world reopens’? Things may be different at present, but the world as a destination is not, we still have the same amazing countries to visit, the same fabulous cruise ships to enjoy, the same spectacular experiences to enjoy, etc. So, lets stop listening to the harbingers of doom and give ourselves something wonderful to look forward to, as we will definitely be back to normal sooner rather than later. With this in mind, I talked things through with my wife Melanie last night and we discussed where or what we really want to do over the next 18 months - I hope this gives you some ideas and inspiration to plan your own trip of a lifetime….

We both agreed, that what we really want is to just experience somewhere new, but to do so in a way that is relaxing and luxurious. We want to be treated like celebrities and to want for nothing, but we want the whole experience to be relaxing and fulfilling. Therefore, a Regent Seven Seas Cruise ticks every box. Take a stroll round the stunning V&A Waterfront, visit the magnificent Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, just stare in awe at the views from the top of iconic Table Mountain or chill out with a beer on the beach in Camps Bay or Clifton. In my opinion you have to visit the Winelands area, about an hours drive from Cape Town and for us, a stay in stunning Franschhoek is an absolute must. This amazingly picturesque town surrounded by mountains and vineyards is possibly my favourite place in the world and I promise you, a visit here will have you longing to return. As an experience, for us, there is simply nothing that comes close to being on safari. The animals in their natural habitat are both awe inspiring and magical - marvel at the sheer power of the elephant and the Rhino. The combination of majesty and danger as you see the lions either hunting or relaxing, or for sheer beauty and elegance, my favourite, the leopard, have to be seen to be believed. You can enjoy all this in conjunction with luxurious accommodation, spectacular views and amazing food and wine. If you have not tried safari before, please let me organise you something special, which will live with you forever, you will not be disappointed.

If it is culture, history, spectacular scenery, wonderful people and incredible cuisine that you are craving, then look no further than India - it will offer you all of these and so much more. Visit the vibrant city of Mumbai, experience the vast differences between New & Old Delhi. Stay at the incredible Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur (my favourite Indian city and the best hotel I have ever stayed at), go on a leopard safari at Jawai, sit atop a camel as you cross the sandy dunes at Serai near Jaisalmer or take a seat for an iconic picture at the Taj Mahal. Visit Ranthambore National Park to see the majestic Bengal Tiger in its natural habitat, board the Toy Train at Shimla or experience real luxury onboard The Palace on Wheels. The ceremonies that take place on the banks of the Ganges river at Varanasi are truly mind blowing, something you will never forget. Do you want to trek in the Himalayas, visit religious sites, sample and learn how to cook delicious regional Indian dishes, etc, we can organise it in conjunction with the incredible Nikhil Chhibber - Mr India himself, he makes the impossible, possible. One of the highlights of a trip to India are the incredibly friendly people, always smiling, happy and proud of their country - they say people make places and this is certainly true for India.
