Since Susie Sprigg delivered an awesome session at our March Wealth Accelerator Circle ? networking event, I’ve become a DISC fanatic, and it’s turbocharging our business.
In the past week alone, we’ve added four more properties to our Serviced Accommodation portfolio in the UK, and in a couple of weeks, we’re back off to Italy to see the progress of our projects there.
So, I’m guessing you probably want to know what this magical, brilliant, business-boosting DISC is all about?
In simple terms, DISC is a behavioural assessment tool that helps you to understand your own communication styles and preferences, and (possibly, even more importantly for business growth) understand the communication preferences of your customers, clients and colleagues.
By learning more about yourself, you can become much more effective in your communication. And by recognising that others have different styles, you can negotiate better, network more successfully, provide great customer service and build leads more effectively.
You answer a questionnaire, and your personal profile pings out at the end.
But why’s it called DISC?
DISC stands for Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Conscientiousness, and everyone has a different amount of each. Depending on your individual profile, you’ll have a preferred communication style.

Once you’ve learned about the different styles, it quickly becomes clear how useful this info can be in your business. So here are my top four ways that understanding DISC boosts business.
1.????? Clear Communication, Less Confusion. By identifying your own DISC style, you gain valuable self-awareness about your communication strengths and areas for improvement. If you’re a decisive Dominant communicator, you’ll probably need to change your approach if you’re speaking to a detail-oriented and analytical Conscientious communicator. Recognising these traits means you’ll be clearer in your communication and avoid mixed messages.
2.????? Build A Dream Team. Successful entrepreneurship is never a solo endeavour, even if you’re the loneliest lone wolf. If you know about DISC styles, you can assemble a network that complements your strengths and compensates for your weaknesses. A dream team like this will take your business to the next level.
3.????? Promote the Brand Effectively. Understanding the communication preferences of customers is key to building a strong brand. Tailoring the way you communicate with customers, based on DISC styles, creates more authentic connection, allows you to anticipate their needs, and solve issues in a way that really suits them.
4.????? Resolve conflicts much more easily. As an entrepreneur & business owner, conflict and challenge is inevitable. However, if the insights from DISC help you to communicate more effectively, then you’ll end up saving yourself a whole lot of time, effort and energy, and save important business relationships that might otherwise turn sour.
Now obviously, I’m not a DISC expert, just a new, avid fan. If you want to learn more, Susie Sprigg is the woman to get to know. At our Wealth Accelerator Circle ? event, she delivered a bite-sized intro to DISC session, but I know for sure I’ll be doing the full day training with her as soon as possible.
This is great Dean! Thank you for clarifying! Super interesting. I need to contact Susie!
