NEW UPDATES FROM TIKTOK TO KNOW

TikTok is on the verge of transforming user experience with extended 30-minute uploads, plus enhanced accessibility through new text size options, and a potential generative AI breakthrough focusing on facilitated search in-stream.

30-minute videos:

As spotted this week, TikTok is testing 30-minute video uploads. The potential for longer clips offers expanded monetisation possibilities, improved revenue sharing for creators, and a strategic move towards becoming a primary destination for entertainment.

Improved accessibility with new text size:

TikTok introduced a new accessibility feature allowing users to adjust text size through a slider in Settings, enhancing the overall user experience. However, it’s worth noting that it applies to system text and not captions within video clips.

Next generative AI push:

TikTok's Chinese counterpart, Douyin, launched a generative AI search feature, allowing users to input questions and receive responses from both internal and third-party sources. If adopted by TikTok, this could enhance its role as a search discovery platform, offering more targeted search results and driving in-app matches.
