In this week’s “What’s in Tech” newsletter, we have covered the latest developments in the AI space. Highlights include new foundational model announcements from OpenAI, Alibaba and Groq; and new AI tools launched by YouTube, TCS and ParallelDots. We also saw a slew of executive movements this week, with new leaders in Microsoft, Accenture, and Freshworks.
OpenAI said that it now has more than 1 million paying users across its business products, ChatGPT Enterprise, Team and Edu. The figure is a rise from the 600,000 users it had in April 2024.
Tadao said that GPT-Next will be 100 times more powerful than GPT-4. Reportedly, the model will use a smaller version of OpenAI’s Project Strawberry, and the boost in performance stems from better architecture and not a vast amount of computing resources.
Microsoft has appointed former Amazon Web Services executive Vaishali Kasture as the General Manager of its Small, Medium and Corporate (SMC) business in India and South Asia.
The company is building a synthetic-singing identification technology within Content ID that will enable partners to automatically identify and control AI-generated content that mimics their singing voices.
The two solutions – TCS Managed Detection and Response and TCS Secure Cloud Foundation leverage capabilities from Google Security Operations and will enable security teams to reduce the time required to detect, and respond to threats and strengthen cloud security posture.
The solution uses?Image Recognition and AI to generate insights such as on-shelf availability, share of shelf, product pricing and tracking store compliances such as planogram and trade promotions.
Unilever will look to leverage Accenture’s GenWizard platform to accelerate their technology and digital product development. The genAI platform has more than 350 patents and ready-to-apply tools.
John Viguerie, with deep expertise in Computer Vision, Deep Learning, and GenAI will play a pivotal role in driving AI applications across Retail, CPG, Healthcare, Hospitality, and Public Sector verticals.

Each country that signs the treaty must “adopt or maintain appropriate legislative, administrative or other measures” that reflect the framework.
