What’s the Story People Tell About You?

What’s the Story People Tell About You?

I was running for miles at this point.

It was 2020 in the middle of the Pandemic when I took on daily runs to cope with everything happening.

I was in a running high and deeply thinking about my book and the impact I wanted it to make.

Sweating hard and breathing with calm.

Then it hit me..

I know how I'm going to launch this book...

Let me ask you something.

Are you tired of feeling invisible in a sea of voices?

You’re working hard, sharing your ideas, but nothing seems to stick. It’s frustrating, right?

People don’t care about your product, your book, or your service. They care about the story they believe about you.

Not the story you think you’re telling—but the one that lives in their minds.

If that story is unclear, forgettable, or boring… you’ll stay stuck.

But if that story connects, inspires, and transforms? That’s when people start paying attention.

My Story: From Invisible to Impactful

When I launched my book, I knew I couldn’t rely on a pretty cover and a few social media posts. Instead, I created an experience people couldn’t ignore:

  • A walk + run for refugees, covering five cities in one week with three events.
  • The media jumped on it.
  • The events drove home the message of my book.

Run Walk for Refugees June 20th 2022 ( second year )

By the end of that week, I wasn’t an author. I was part of a movement.

That run and realization changed how I see marketing my self. It was never about me. My entire goal was to shed light on a huge social issue.

By gathering people to do something together the attention went to the cause.

Now the city of Portland, Beaverton and Salem in Oregon do this yearly for World Refugee Week and I'm not even involved.

We sparked something amazing in and around that community.

You can watch the whole video here on how everything came together.

Now I’m doing the same thing with my podcast van. The Rising Author Experience Van - Rae-Van is the way to make a buzz in the industry by doing something unique.

It works because it’s real. It’s human. And it tells a story people want to share.

What’s the Story People Believe About You?

If you want to stand out in 2025, it’s time to focus on the story you’re creating in people’s minds. Here’s how to start:

1. Create an Experience They Can’t Ignore

Think outside the box. What’s one thing you can do that ties your work to a bigger story?

  • Writing a book on leadership? Host a “coffee + conversations” event in your town.
  • Building a wellness brand? Start a free weekly “mindful walk” where people can connect.

Make it meaningful. Make it memorable. People don’t forget experiences—they talk about them.

2. Build Something That Sparks Curiosity

For me, it’s my podcast van. It gets people asking questions. They want to know more.

What’s your version of that?

  • A quirky challenge related to your industry.
  • A creative giveaway.
  • A behind-the-scenes project that shows your values in action.

People love to be curious. Give them a reason to wonder.

3. Show Them What You Believe In

Your audience doesn’t want tips and tricks. They want to know what you stand for.

  • Share your process, your purpose, and the why behind your work.
  • Align your launches with causes or ideas that resonate with your mission.

This isn’t about self-promotion—it’s about connection.

4. Give Them Something to Share

What can you create that’s so good they can’t help but pass it along?

  • A free resource that solves a real problem.
  • A toolkit or guide that aligns with their goals.
  • A small event or initiative that sparks conversation.

When you create for them—not for you—they’ll remember you.

Your 2025 Action Plan

Ask yourself this: What’s the transformation you’re offering?

Turn that into a story. Build experiences around it. Share it. And don’t forget to make it fun.

I know it’s possible because I’ve done it. Whether it’s a walk for refugees. A podcast tour in the Rae-Van, or free resources.

I focus on creating things people care about—and that’s what builds connection and trust.

Now it’s your turn. What will your story be in 2025?

Cheers,

Hussein
