What's Stopping You from Living Your Best Life

We always talk about living our best life and we ask ourselves:

How do we get there?

How?do?we get to a place of living your best life?

Well, first you need to know what's stopping you from reaching your full potential.

Many times, our biggest obstacle is?ourselves.?Our mindset can hold us back and cause us to feel stagnant.

Take some time to review the 10 questions below and answer them honestly.

By doing this self-evaluation, you can see what areas need improvement.

A self-evaluation is to learn about yourself, in a place where you cannot judge yourself.

If there are areas you are not happy with, do not beat yourself up.

Instead ask yourself:

What could I do to change it?

1. How much time do you spend on social media? Social media can be fun but when it's overused, it can cause feelings of FOMO, comparing ourselves to others and lowering our self-esteem.?

Be mindful of how you feel when you are on social media. If you are feeling stressed or anxious, it's time to step away. If you are spending too much time on social media, it might be time to place time limits or remove the app from some of your technology.

2. What does your morning and evening routine look like? Routines help us to feel balanced. A good morning routine helps us to start our day off on a positive note. A good evening routine helps us wind down and sleep well. Many of us lost our routine with covid and with all of the changes, it might be time to create a new routine.

3. Are your basic needs met? Our basic needs include sleep, diet, water and exercise. For one week, keep track of all four. At the end of the week, you can see which of your basic needs is lacking. When we are not in a good space physically, it affects our emotional and mental health.?

4. How do you Destress? We can't live a stress-free life but we can reduce our stress.

Add some mindfulness activities into your daily routine such as meditation, yoga, deep breathing, walking, journal writing, etc.

5. Do you have a good support system? We can't heal, grieve or forgive alone. We all need unconditional support.?

6. Do you make socialization a priority? Socialization is a top factor of happiness. Make socialization including support, fun and community a top priority in your life.

7. Do you let fear stop you? You will have fear but you can feel the fear and move through it. Remind yourself 90% of what you fear never happens.?

8. Are you settling in any areas of life? This goes with fear. We will stay at a job we don't like, relationships that aren't fulfilling, etc, out of fear. Be mindful of the areas in your life that you aren't happy with.

9. Are your relationships healthy? Positive? We know socialization is very important but make sure the people you spend the most time with lift you up. Are your friends empowering you or bringing you down?

10. How?do you treat yourself? What does your inner self-talk sound like? Practicing affirmations? Are your self-talks positive or negative??We are our biggest obstacle to success and happiness. Listen to your self-talk. Be mindful of the words/phrases you repeat often.?

Thanks for the great article. I appreciate the points you make about Social Media and giving ourselves a thorough non-judgenent look at how we treat ourselves.
