What's the Right Warranty Period for Healthcare?

What's the Right Warranty Period for Healthcare?

My dad says that they sure don't make things like they used to.?Still, I've noticed that I still use a number of things that are over 20 years old:

  • In high school, I purchased a 索尼 5 CD changer stereo cabinet.?It keeps me going when I'm working in the garage these days.
  • After I graduated from college, I splurged on an Oakley Icon 2.0 backpack.?I still regularly use it and it looks brand new.
  • In 2002, I purchased a Bose Corporation Lifestyle 35 system that I still use every single day. At the time, the purchase price made me sick it my stomach, but the lifespan has made it pennies per use.
  • I also purchased a Dyson DC07 vacuum around the same time.?It's still my primary vacuum today.
  • What made me really sit down and notice this is my laptop.?My 微软 Surface Pro 3 is 8 years old and it's built like a tank.?In fact, Microsoft just had a sale on refurbished units, which helped me realize it's longevity.

I mention these items because they?are mostly electronic and all have moving parts.?I haven't had any major issues with them over their lifespan.?Some sit through the cold of winter and the scorching heat of summer. I've traveled internationally around the world with others. There is something to be said for quality over quantity.

But what in Healthcare lasts 20 years??Sure, there are things that you DON'T want to use that long, for cleanliness reasons.?But is there anything that should?

  • My CPAP machine is starting to die after three years.?Expected lifespan is five years.
  • A pacemaker battery lasts between 5 - 15 years, although they may outlive their recipients.
  • My fitness wearables sit with dead batteries and my "smart" scale no longer connects to my wifi.
  • Even a vasectomy may fail after months or years, lol.
  • Genetic cures are starting to emerge, where effects will last a lifetime!?But there may be relapses...

What do you think the appropriate lifespan of healthcare products and services??Of course, a lot of the outcome is dependant on the user/patient to do the right thing, but assuming they appropriately selfcare, what's an appropriate warranty period?
