What's the point of coding for digital marketers?

Why is coding useful for digital marketers?

1. It will help the marketer improve their skill set. “Possessing just a basic knowledge of HTML allows you to make these small changes on your own, saving time for both your team and theirs.” Also if people are familiar with various types of program languages it can improve the overall practices of digital marketing.?
2. It helps digital marketers understand what can and can not be possible when creating a campaign. When marketers learn code for themselves it helps with their personal inspiration for their jobs. Learning code by yourself rather than just looking at what others have done will create many new ideas and options on how to create a more successful campaign
3. It smooths the communication with the actual developers that are taking the ideas and performing the actions to create the image. When the marketers are able to use more terms that the developers know there will be less confusion between the two sides and there will be more of what they both want.?

What websites should digital marketers use to get into code?

Now as a future digital marketer I wanted to explore multiple websites to learn more about coding and how to create websites and marketing campaigns. The websites that I visited are CodeAcademy, SquareSpace, and WordPress. All of these websites are very helpful for people that want to learn what goes on behind the scenes and helps people understand what goes into making something such as a campaign or a website.

CodeAcademy

The first website that I toured around is CodeAcademy, I studied language skills and more specifically learning about HTML. When I started their course on HTML the main thing I noticed between CodeAcademy and the other two websites is that they are much more code based. When I created the image and video for the website, I wrote actual code in practice instead of uploading an image and or video like the other two websites.?

CodeAcademy is still very similar to these other websites for digital marketers. However if you want to be successful using CodeAcademy you will have to know some languages of code. People that do not know how to code, such as myself are still able to learn languages through their own programs but it will take some time to transfer the learning to creating the campaign they want.?

SquareSpace

As for SquareSpace it is known as a website builder, it is very simple to understand with its very modern templates that many people of the newer generations will be able to relate to. Whether that be because of the websites that they have visited in the past using similar styles or it’s because them being digital marketers and understanding what does and doesn’t work. When using SquareSpace I was able to create a website by walking through the steps and was able to still be creative on what I had in mind for my mock website.?

The main difference between SquareSpace and WordPress is that SquareSpace is more for beginners learning how to create a website, and can be used for businesses searching for the option that helps supply the need for e-commerce features. This is more well-known as a website builder which is defined as an “all-in-one tool that includes everything you need to create a website, from designer templates to hosting. You don’t have to know anything about code, and your whole site can be managed in one place. This makes SquareSpace the more beginner-friendly platform.”(WebsiteBuilderExpert)

WordPress

WordPress is defined as a content management system that runs on plugins and manual setups. “Content management systems are more advanced software, made for handling larger websites with a lot of data. You can fully customize these websites, but only if you know how to code. You’ll also have to find a hosting provider yourself, but you’ll end up with more storage space and scalability.”(WebsiteBuilderExpert)

How can a digital marketer use all of these websites?

As a digital marketer, all of these platforms are very useful in the field but it all depends on what you want to create. If you are new to the field, I believe that the two websites that will help benefit you the most are CodeAcademy and SquareSpace. “With CodeAcademy you can learn?CodeAcademy is an online platform that teaches programming skills to students of all levels. Then for SquareSpace, it can walk you through the steps of creating a website without any prior experience. As for WordPress, digital marketers can use this when they feel more comfortable in the field and believe they can create meaningful content by adding plug-ins and other websites to help create and share what they have in mind.?
