What's playing at your theatre?

I love this quote from Mark Twain….
" I have been through some terrible things in my life, some of which actually happened"
It makes me smile
at how crazy we human beings can be sometimes.
We all do it though, don’t we? …….
Create incredible, elaborate dramas in our heads,
About all the unfortunate things that are going to befall us, or our loved ones.
We spend so much time living in this theatre in our heads.
That we forget …..
None of it is real.
We made it up.
So few of the things that we actually worry about
Ever come to pass.
Yet how much of your time and emotional energy do you spend on things that
ARE NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN?
If the answer is, a lot,
Well, it is time to turn off that movie reel.
Life is so much better without it.
So how to break free of this drama, heavy home theatre in your head?
1. Recognise that these are movies, scripts that you are the author and director of. They aren't real, and you can stop watching them at any time.
2. Get out of your head and into the present moment - practice keeping your attention in the here and now instead of what is going on in your imagination.
Who knows what the future is going to hold anyway, right?
Not you, not me, not even the fortune teller with a crystal ball.
So let the worries go.
Enjoy the present moment.
