What’s Old Is New Again - With a Modern Twist

As 2024 becomes a memory, southern clubs dive into a new season while northern clubs gear up for spring's return. Change is constant, even for the most traditional private golf clubs, and familiar debates resurface year after year:

  • Should we implement a food & beverage minimum?
  • Are guest golf round restrictions effective?
  • Is it time to raise initiation fees?

Having worked with private clubs for over 20 years, I’ve seen these discussions play out on a loop. What’s the quickest way to move from debate to decision? Data.

Too often, these choices are based on hunches or anecdotal evidence. A board member might say, “My other club has a food minimum, and it sinks X thousand dollars to the bottom line” sparking hours of discussion about implementation details.

Instead of relying on gut feelings or manually compiled spreadsheets, let 2025 be the year your club takes a data-driven approach. Leverage accurate membership spending data to assess - objectively - what works and what doesn’t. Whether the issue is food minimums, member spending habits, or other program adjustments, solid data helps you make informed, confident decisions.

Remember: Data isn’t a destination - it’s a journey. Preparing for the recurring questions of tomorrow starts with gathering the right insights today.
