Former IDF Chief of Staff Eisenkot's call to unity of Eisenkot, over his son's tombstone unveiling

What's Next For The Startup Nation?

First, the reservists went viral with their Just Shut Up campaign - brilliant enough to put any ad agency to shame.

Then we started seeing the former head of the protests - who is also a serial entrepreneur - Ishay Green talk about how wrong he was about everything - nothing short of miraculous. He says there are thousands of others who feel exactly the same way - how they were way off.

And a common theme at all levels of society at the moment - is the need for unity. How this is the best way to make sure no one died in vain fighting for our country.

Look at these two soldiers explaining how the enemy feeds off our separation, and is cancelled in the face of our unity. Yes, it's a thing.

The latest words of wisdom come from our former Chief of Staff at the unveiling of his son's tombstone -

Eisenkot called for "solidarity and mutual guarantee - as central values in our ability to establish a common future"

"A young man from Herzliya and a young man from Susia fought and fell together": the call to unity of Eisenkot, above his son's tombstone >> ynet

The former minister and chief of staff spoke at a ceremony marking the one month anniversary of the death of his son Gal, in Gaza. Among other things, he mentioned that his son fell alongside the late Eyal Berkovich, from Mount Hebron: "The fact that they fought together, after the year we've been through, should provoke thought in all of us." He called for "solidarity and mutual guarantee - as central values in our ability to establish a common future"

For those of you who don't get it - parts of Herzliya are some of the most affluent areas in the center of Israel, where young people are secular for the most part. While Susia in Mount Hebron is where young people tend to be mostly religious and from less affluent backgrounds.

My Commentary

Putting aside all the deaths and tragedy - this war is really shifting our perceptions in a very significant way.

Everyone understands on some level that we need to be united like the soldiers on the front - but no one really knows how to do it without a scary and dangerous enemy threatening us.

So we need to start preparing for tomorrow where all this 'doing for others' will become far more prevalent.

I loved the way Ishay Green talked about the need for us to speak to each other. He is totally correct, but it requires getting used to hearing to each other. - and that requires a higher quality of listening between us.

So I'd like to see us start producing some startups that focus on enhancing our human capabilities. And especially focusing on the listening part. I just happen to know some really talented people who have all that expertise - but they're not entrepreneurs.
