What's next at Mindworks?

Hello everyone,

We hope 2024 will bring everyone new energy and that it can be the year the tables truly start to turn. The Mindworks team just returned to work this week after some much-needed year-end downtime, and we are setting out with a sense of purpose and active hope for the year ahead.

In December, we shared with you the launch of Anger Monitor 2.0, a study of the quality and quantity of anger across six countries. ICYMI, it’s here. We also wanted to share a quick review of what happened in Mindworks in 2023 and a preview of what lies ahead!

  1. Mindworks Lab pivoted from being a knowledge broker to an agency, executing our own projects to support changemakers.
  2. We launched two flagship projects - #TimeToTalk and #AngerMonitor. Time To Talk intends to revolutionise digital conversations at scale, while the Anger Monitor uses data to create recommendations for utilising anger and sparking agency in your campaigns.
  3. We ran three Time To Talk prototypes. A UK conversation centred around the unpredictable weather and climate crisis, a much-needed dialogue for action during the air pollution crisis in Jakarta and in the Philippines we helped Greenpeace facilitate a space for young climate leaders to reimagine their cities.
  4. We expanded our Anger Monitor to six countries to now also cover South East Europe with the support of ECF (to whom we are very grateful for this partnership!)
  5. We launched a third part of our signature climate series, ‘The Inconvenient Mind’. This part focuses on climate mindsets in the context of the polycrisis.
  6. Our team ran workshops and sessions with partners ranging from CAN, Climate Reality, ECF’s New Energy Academy, Greenpeace and more.

  1. First up, watch out for ‘The Inconvenient Mind’ Part III: Recommendations where we will set out what we recommend for climate campaigning in today’s challenging context
  2. With a big election year ahead around the world we will be expanding the Anger Monitor into Asia with four new countries added for the next round and that data being collected in the next few weeks.
  3. We will now also be moving from recommendations to real-world testing and implementation, notably in South Eastern Europe but also exploring what the data means in the context of an election.
  4. We will be taking the learnings from Time To Talk and seeing how we can scale up our pilots to impactful digital conversations.
  5. Last, but by no means least, we will be expanding our on-the-ground operations in the global south.

We hope to take you all on this journey with us!
