From time to time, I have one-on-one sessions with clients. Initially, I used to do that a lot, but as day-to-day operations needed my time, I had to leave more of that for the team.?
I like to start my session by asking about goals. I have had some pretty interesting responses: to watch a football match at Old Trafford, to buy a G63, or to prepare for children's university education.
The focus often is on investing a portion of that income or optimising one’s investment portfolio. (A portfolio is the collection of investments that you own.) One goal I rarely hear is expanding one’s primary source of income.?
Why is this so? Money is a sensitive topic. Money conversations are also difficult to have. In some ways, it's like looking at a mirror. You either like all or part of what you see, or you don't like what you see.
Truth be told, there is a limit to how much you can squeeze your current income. One of my colleagues would always say that 'a Korope can’t move at the same pace as a Range Rover.' (Korope a colloquial name for a really tiny minibus)
What are you doing to expand your income? This is a pertinent question, especially if you are in the active working bracket (typically between 18 to 64 years).?

Even if you are above 64, you can continually upgrade your skill to earn more. You have decades of experience that makes you a good consigliere. While the term 'consigliere' means an adviser to the leader of an organised crime syndicate, in reality, everyone needs an experienced adviser in any organisation)?
So what’s your plan to earn more? If you are in a 9-to-5, what are the requirements for moving to the next position in your organisation? Academic qualifications? Courses? Even people and dress skills matter. Do you have them? Are you working towards them? Do you have a timeline? Do you have a budget for personal development??
If you are self-employed, what’s the next level? Branches? A better structure? What are you doing to get better? Are you building a team? Or does everything come to a halt if you are not around??
