What's Next? Edited by Jim Al-Khalili

This week’s book is What’s Next? Edited by Jim Al-Khalili. It is exactly what it sounds. The book discusses what may happen in the future in terms of the planet, the human race, technology and extraterrestrial travel and consists of chapters by various experts. Some of my favourites were Julia Slingo’s chapter on climate change, Adam Kucharski’s chapter on the future of medicine, Naomi Climer’s chapter on The Cloud and the Internet of Things, and the whole of the ‘Making the Future’ section about engineering, transport and energy written by Anna Ploszajski, Jeff Hardy, John Miles and Noel Sharkey. I may be biased as I was lucky enough to go and see Jim Al-Khalili talk about this book, and he very kindly signed it for me! It is a great book though and doesn't require lots of brain power to read.
