What's Next After You Run Marathons Across all 7 Continents?

Running marathons across all 7 continents over 7 years has no doubt been an exhilarating experience for me. When I started this journey 8 years ago, that goal had seemed very unlikely, even unreachable. I started small but kept reaching higher and the possibilities kept expanding eventually getting me to my dream of running marathons in all 7 continents.

Along with running, writing has been a passion for me since childhood. After every marathon, I would write down what I learned leading up to the run and the race experience itself. I also captured what I learned from others along the way - my community (Om Run ), my mentors, my peers, other inspiring runners and leaders that I had heard from and many memorable lessons, principles along the way.? "Run and Grow Rich " - the book that I am releasing soon (thanks to NDP and The Creator Institute ) was born from that experience filled with inspirational stories, principles and lessons. Whether you are into running, or you are an entreprenuer/soloprenuer or you are taking up a moonshot project at work, these stories, principles and lessons are bound to help you.

Stories and accomplishments continue to inspire me and this morning was no different as I came across an interesting post by Darshan Doshi featuring Lavany Tekumalla on “How to Train for an Ultramarathon ” that my dear friend Rajesh Setty had tagged me.

First, congratulations on this amazing feat, Lavanya .?? and what a brilliant podcast, Darshan! Some great insights and lessons from this post:

  • It is about consistency and intensity
  • Lean on your running tribe
  • Find what you enjoy AND what you do well – This will keep you motivated and enable you to keep stretching!?
  • Executing consistently over a long period = A Habit
  • With change being the only constant, 90 day plans are the norm.
  • Mix it up with strength training, yoga
  • Recovery and rest are as important as the work itself.

These are consistent with my own learnings. Some things that I would like to add to this great list of things that Lavanya shared:

  • It all starts with the right mindset
  • Engaging both active mentors AND passive mentors will amplify your abilities
  • Progress is a critical - Use small wins to ignite joy in yourself and others - Teresa Amabile 's Progress Principle
  • Grit and needing to develop it - like the Navy Seals in Hell Week - I had the unique opportunity to join Navy Seals and get a taste of their training a few years ago.
  • The Importance of Finishing Strong

Stories like Lavany Tekumalla 's are ones that continue to inspire me and help us all push those so-called boundaries, continuing to reach higher and enabling us to achieve more than we originally thought possible. Thank you, Lavanya.

Keep on running and hope to see you on the trails soon.

Thanks Satish for the summary and your additional points as well. Looking forward to reading your book!
