Using proteomics to overcome glioblastoma resistance

Scientists at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center alongside collaborating organisations, have recently provided a new understanding of how glioblastoma cells mimic healthy human neurons. By using an AI algorithm, they are able to predict glioblastoma's most active kinase, and this insight could potentially lead therapies to prevent treatment resistance.

Dr David Kavanagh, shares how T-cell receptors offer window to the cell for a new class of cancer therapeutics. He further discusses how monoclonal antibodies are limited by their ability to only recognise tumour antigens expressed on the outside surface of a cell. Read more >>>

How breast cancer cells take advantage of the extracellular matrix

Lead researcher Dr Elena Rainero and her team have discovered a key metabolic process that cancer cells use to grow in a nutrient deprived environment, which in turn could be a new target. They have also investigated how tumours continue to grow despite this lack of nutrients.

Overtime, researchers have observed many quantifiable differences between diseased cells made from affected children and their gene-edited cells. In this new study, the researchers from Center for Regenerative Medicine have found a way to study the most common genetic cause of chILD using stem cells generated from each patient.
