Hello marketers and business owners!
I hope everyone is ready to smash the week ahead and ready to enjoy a well deserved Bank Holiday weekend!
Let’s jump right into this week’s updates ??
1. Snapchat Adds ‘Shared Stories’
Snapchat has definitely been falling behind recently, prompting them to generate new ideas to hopefully move them forward. Snapchat is intending to capitalise on the growing trend of collaborative content with the introduction of a new 'Shared Stories' feature, which allows users to invite other users to contribute to their Story with their own points of view. When you make a Shared Story, you can select who will be allowed to contribute with their own additions. The story will then be visible to your friends as well as theirs, offering increased visibility for both users while also facilitating a new form of collaboration within your Snap content. A great option for brands looking to utilise collaborative influencer marketing on different social platforms.?
2. LinkedIn Provides New Video Series
Although LinkedIn is currently experiencing record levels of user engagement, it feels as if this is due to the exposure of low level content used to generate shallow engagement. LinkedIn is striving to fix this and has launched a new initiative to bring greater insight into how it is combating this in order to improve the overall LinkedIn experience. Their new video series aims to promote “constructive and respectful conversations”, as well as the alignment between “professional and personal growth”. LinkedIn hasn't traditionally offered a lot of information about what content generates the most traction, however, they've disclosed that the platform factors in dwell time, engagement baiting and polls. So, if you want to maximise your content performance on LinkedIn, you should probably avoid these elements and instead focus on creating meaningful, engaging posts that are relevant to your target audience.

3. Instagram’s Working on a Video Reaction Option for Reels
In just a few short years, TikTok has become one of the most popular social media platforms in the world. With its unique format and engaging content, TikTok has managed to captivate a global audience. There is no wonder that other platforms are attempting to follow in their footsteps, Instagram included. Instagram is currently testing a new option that would prompt users to 'create a reaction video' right from the Reels share page, as seen in this example posted by app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi. This looks suspiciously close to the duet feature offered by TikTok, don't you think? This will of course promote participation and boost visibility for all parties involved as well as hopefully contributing to a more dynamic content ecosystem, with more original clips being created.
4. Twitter Launches New ‘Twitter Create’
Creators are the new currency for social platforms, with each network working to keep the best creative talent sweet and therefore creating and posting on their platforms. Twitter has taken the next step in its efforts to increase its creator appeal by launching a new Twitter Create mini-site, which will offer a range of tips, insights, and examples intended to help creators optimise their Twitter presence. The new site provides an overview of Twitter's numerous monetisation possibilities, organised into nine categories, as well as a variety of blog posts and notes to help guide your tweeting strategy. It’s a good push in the right direction for Twitter and is a big win for existing and aspiring creators on the platform.?
