What's new in Power Platform? - Ep 15
Before diving into the new feature, I'd like to introduce myself. I am Stuart Baxter, Power Platform Solution Architect at?Kerv Digital. I've been working with Microsoft technologies for almost 8 years and have spent the last 4 working with Power Platform. I enjoy building creative solutions for our customers using the latest features.
In this episode we will be looking at the modern security role editor. This is a refreshed UI for configuring security roles in your Power Platform environments.
Accessing the new UI
From here you will be able to create a new role, or edit an existing one using the new UI
Searching for a permission
in the top right of the screen you will find a search box, where you can search by permission display name (e.g. "Run Flows") or name (e.g. "prvFlow") - searching by name is really useful when you have found a missing permission using browser dev tools, and want to quickly update
When a role is assigned to a team
This is not new functionality - a full explanation of team member's privileges inheritance can be found here

Tab menu
in the bottom portion of the screen, you will see a tab menu containing table permissions, miscellaneous privileges and privacy related privileges
Permission type dropdown
The next control is a handy dropdown allowing admins to toggle between all tables, tables with permissions and tables without permissions
Permissions Updates
Below is a fluent UI style details list grid, using a sticky header showing the various permissions (create, read, write, delete, append, append to, assign and share) with collapsible sections showing things like business management, core records, sales, service, etc. The list is ordered alphabetically for ease of locating the permission you want to look at.
to update a permission, simply click the required row and update the required permissions using a handy dropdown control:
Conclusion
The new modern security roles editor is much easier to navigate and allows for ease of finding permissions that have been allocated to a role.
It is a welcome refresh for a UI that has been largely unchanged for a number of years.
