Burdeau, J. A., et al. (2024). "Early Pregnancy Plasma Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) and Maternal Midlife Adiposity." J Clin Endocrinol Metab.
OBJECTIVE: Estimate associations of early pregnancy measures of individual PFAS, and PFAS mixtures, with maternal adiposity in midlife. METHODS: We studied 547 Project Viva participants with measures of early pregnancy (mean gestation 10.0 weeks; mean age 32.5 years) plasma concentrations of 6 PFAS and midlife adiposity outcomes (mean follow-up 17.7 years; mean age 50.7 years), including weight, waist circumference (WC), trunk fat mass (TFM), and total body fat mass (TBFM).

Dai, Y., et al. (2024). "Sex-specific associations of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances with brain-derived neurotrophic factors (BDNF) in cord serum." Environ Res 262(Pt 2): 119922.
Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) is a vital protein in neurodevelopment, and the associations between PFAS exposure and BDNF require exploration. OBJECTIVE: We aimed to explore the relationships between PFAS exposure and the levels of BDNF in cord serum.

Du, X., et al. (2024). "Association between PFAS exposure and thyroid health: A systematic review and meta-analysis for adolescents, pregnant women, adults and toxicological evidence." Sci Total Environ: 175958.
A burgeoning body of epidemiological and toxicological evidence suggests that thyroid health may be significantly impacted by exposure to both long- and short-chain perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) compounds. We conducted a meta-analysis to examine the association between 16 PFAS compounds and five thyroid hormones (TSH, TT3, TT4, FT3, and FT4) in the serum of a pregnant women, adolescents, and adults.

Ganbat, N., et al. (2024). "PFOA remediation from kaolinite soil by electrokinetic process coupled with activated carbon/iron coated activated carbon - permeable reactive barrier." J Contam Hydrol 267: 104425.
This study applied electrokinetic (EK) in situ soil remediation for perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) removal from kaolinite soil. The kaolinite soil was spiked with 10?mg/kg PFOA for the EK treatment using Sodium Cholate bio-surfactant coupled with Activated Carbon (AC) or iron-coated Activated Carbon (FeAC) permeable reactive barrier (PRB).

Richardson, M. J., et al. (2025). "Evaluation of separation by high shear mixing for per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) treatment in water." Separation and Purification Technology 354 C7 - 129026.
?Widespread per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contamination in water, sediments and soils has driven demand for scalable and cost-effective treatments suitable for application across a range of ∑PFAS concentrations from ng/L to mg/L. One promising class of treatment technology is based on PFAS accumulation at the surface of air bubbles. ? 2024 The Authors

Simon, F., et al. (2024). "An optimized method for PFAS analysis using HR-CS-GFMAS via GaF detection." Talanta 281: 126811.
The analysis of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) via sum parameters like extractable organic fluorine (EOF) in combination with high resolution-continuum source-graphite furnace molecular absorption spectrometry (HR-CS-GFMAS) is highly promising regarding fluorine sensitivity and selectivity. However, the HR-CS-GFMAS method includes several drying and heating steps which can lead to losses of volatile PFAS before the molecular formation step using e.g., GaF formation.

Tansel, B., et al. (2024). "PFAS in biosolids: Accumulation characteristics and fate profiles after land application." J Environ Manage 370: 122395.
The objectives of this study were to evaluate PFAS levels in biosolids samples collected at two wastewater treatment plants operated by the Miami Dade Water and Sewer Department (MDWASD): (1) the South District Wastewater Treatment Plant (SDWWTP) which received landfill leachate and (2) the Central District Wastewater Treatment Plant (CDWWTP). Sludge samples were collected after thickening, anaerobic digestion, and dewatering processes.

Von Behren, J., et al. (2024). "Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in drinking water in Southeast Los Angeles: Industrial legacy and environmental justice." Sci Total Environ: 176067.
To assess PFAS in California tap water, we collected 60 water samples from inside homes in four different geographic regions, both urban and rural. We selected mostly small water systems with known history of industrial chemical or pesticide contamination and that served socioeconomically disadvantaged communities. Thirty percent of the tap water samples (18) had a detection of at least one of the 32 targeted PFAS and most detections (89?%) occurred in heavily industrialized Southeast Los Angeles (SELA).

Weatherly, L. M., et al. (2024). "Systemic and immunotoxicity induced by topical application of perfluoroheptane sulfonic acid (PFHpS) or perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS) in a murine model." Journal of Immunotoxicology 21(1).
The present study evaluated the systemic and immunotoxicity of subchronic 28- or 10-days of dermal exposure, respectively, to PFHpS (0.3125-2.5% or 7.82-62.5 mg/kg/dose) or PFOS (0.5% or 12.5 mg/kg/dose) in a murine model. Elevated levels of PFHpS were detected in the serum and urine, suggesting that absorption is occurring through the dermal route. PFHpS induced significantly increased relative liver weight, significantly decreased relative spleen and thymus weight, altered serum chemistries, and altered histopathology.

Wen, Y., et al. (2025). "Photocatalytic degradation of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) by metal organic framework MIL-177-HT: New insights into the role of specific surface area, charge separation and dimensionality." Separation and Purification Technology 354 C7 - 128877.
This paper presents restuls on the degradation and defluorination of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) by a photocatalytic titanium-based metal–organic framework (MOF), MIL-177-HT. This MOF achieved about 83 % PFOA removal and 32 % defluorination within 24 h, The results suggested that additional characteristics of MOF were also critical for efficient PFOA degradation.. ? 2024 Elsevier B.V.

Zhou, X., et al. (2024). "Association between family economic situation and serum PFAS concentration in American adults with hypertension and hyperlipemia." Sci Rep 14(1): 20799.
Although there is an association between income status and concentration of perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substance (PFAS), the association remains uncertain in patients with hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and comorbidities. Data from the 2013-2016 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey were analyzed

2 个月Thank you for covering this! I’m sure you’re aware corrupt entities are trying to skate by claims of “PFAS free” by using “GenX chemicals” which are essentially the same, if not worst; a mere atom is removed essentially. Greenwashing at its worst.
