What's New in Office 2021

Fully supported on Windows 10, Windows 11, and the three most recent versions of macOS, Office 2021 appeals to those who are reluctant to move across to the cloud-powered Microsoft 365 variants. So, what new features does Office 2021 have on offer? Let’s break them down.

Easily work in the same document, at the same time with multiple users and be notified when changes are made. Documents can be saved to OneDrive, SharePoint, or Teams for easy collaboration. Co-author is available in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Users can also keep a close eye on who is collaborating on the same document, as well as where they are in the document.

Following in the footsteps of Windows 11, Office 2021 offers users a visual refresh consisting of a more neutral pallet and softer look, creating a tranquil and calm working experience. Microsoft is also constantly adding stock images and icons to their Office Premium Creative Content collection, ensuring they keep up with the latest trends.

Have you ever spent hours working on a document just for your device to die on you without having your progress saved? Auto-Save rescues you from the frustration of constantly having to click that save button by saving your files automatically every few seconds – thanks Microsoft!

Excel now offers users XLOOKUP which precedes VLOOKUP in the sense that VLOOKUP provides an approximate match, while XLOOKUP defaults to an exact match. Find things like SKU’s or model numbers easily as XLOOKUP allows to search for a term in one column and return a result from the same row in another column, irrespective of which side the return column is based.

The Record Slide Show function has now been improved to support presenter video recording, ink recording and laser pointer recording. Record professional-looking presentations by making use of your sound card, microphone, speakers, webcam and capture narrations, slide timings, and ink gestures. Easy right?

Working with users across the world can be challenging, especially in terms of language barriers. Outlook now offers a handy Translator add-in that translates email message text immediately. The translated text is displayed next to the reading pane in your mailbox.

Considering users eye health, Microsoft has created Dark Mode for Word. Dark Mode reduces the strain on users’ eyes while also accommodating light sensitivity. Due to popular demand, Microsoft extended the black and grey Office theme to include your canvas as well.
