At Open Data Week 2024, Dr. Rodney Chun from the NYC Office of Management and Budget discussed NYC employment data while accounting for seasonal variations. Also, Hayley Elszasz and Carlos Piedad from the Mayor’s Office of Climate & Environmental Justice introduced the Environmental Justice NYC (EJNYC) Mapping Tool.??

This Week in NYC Civic Tech / Gov Watch ???

• New York City Office of Technology & Innovation released their 2024 Open Data Report! It’s chock full of information about accessibility upgrades, new datasets, an announcement on NYC Open Data Week 2025, and more. Be sure to check it out!?
• Climate Week NYC is back! From September 22 to 29, there will be over 600 activities across the city. Let us know which events you plan to attend!?
• The NYC Council and the “Free to Pee” coalition advocated for two bills addressing the public restroom shortage. One bill requires the city to make select restrooms in municipal buildings more accessible; the other mandates a long-term planning process.?
• The Citizens Budget Commission recommended that the MTA unpause congestion pricing and adopt at most a $62.4 billion capital program focused on repairs and rebuilding the system over the next five years.?
