Perth Might be the Next Blueprint for Nature-Positive Urban Development
Perth is redefining urban development with a nature-positive approach, restoring habitats for species like the red-tailed black cockatoo. In our recent article we explore the scalable strategies for sustainable cities, integrating biodiversity into urban planning to benefit communities and ecosystems alike. We also delve into the takeaways property developers can use in their own projects.
TNFD Invites Feedback From Cooperations
The TNFD has released a discussion paper inviting feedback on nature transition plans. It outlines draft guidance for corporates and financial institutions to develop and disclose their plans, addressing goals, targets, actions, accountability mechanisms, and resources aligned with the GBF's transition objectives. Contributions are welcomed until February 1, 2025.
COP16 Takeaways
At COP16 in Cali, Colombia, progress was made towards global biodiversity goals, including the establishment of the "Cali Fund" to share benefits from digital genetic information, and the creation of a permanent body recognising Indigenous and Afro-descendant communities as conservation stewards. However, critical financial strategies for biodiversity conservation remain unresolved, emphasising the need for ongoing collaboration.
What’s Happening with Xylo ??????????
Global Nature Positive Summit & Xylo Nature Walk
In October, Sydney hosted the world’s first Global Nature Positive Summit at the International Convention Centre, bringing global leaders together to tackle the urgent challenge of regenerating nature. Xylo Systems was honoured to showcase our platform in the Innovator Hub alongside other pioneering nature-tech startups.
We also proudly co-presented with Ed Ellis, Head of the Integrated Biodiversity Assessment Tool (IBAT), to announce our exciting new partnership with IBAT—a step forward in delivering cutting-edge biodiversity insights to organisations worldwide.
To close Day 1, co-founder Jada Andersen led a Xylo Nature Walk around stunning Darling Harbour. Supporters explored Waterman’s Cove Sea Walls and Barangaroo Reserve, witnessing thriving biodiversity in an urban setting.
All Energy Conference & Jada’s Panel Talk
Xylo Systems was thrilled to attend the All-Energy Australia Conference in Melbourne, we had the opportunity to proudly showcase our mission to preserve and regenerate biodiversity as part of the EnergyLab Startup Showcase.
Our co-founder, Jada, joined a panel of energy-tech innovators to explore Innovations in Community Engagement and Biodiversity for energy projects. During the Breakthrough Technology pitching session, she shared Xylo Systems' vision for a world where biodiversity thrives alongside progress. Jada highlighted how our cutting-edge solutions empower energy developers to confidently achieve biodiversity goals, offering clarity, actionable insights, and a pathway to a more sustainable future.
