What's New with Greentown Go, ACCEL, and TEX-E

Dear Friends of Greentown Labs,

Fall is the busiest time of the year at Greentown—which means partnerships for climate action, events that convene the climatetech ecosystem, and programs to support our entrepreneurs are all kicked into full gear. Let’s check in first with Greentown Go, our startup-corporate partnerships accelerator that tackles greenhouse gas emissions across five tracks: Go Make (manufacturing), Go Move (transportation), Go Energize (energy and electricity), Go Build (buildings), and Go Grow (food and agriculture).?

• Go Make 2023 with Shell, which is focused on advancing carbon utilization, storage, and traceability, recently announced its six-startup cohort! Meet Caravel Bio, Circularise, Corumat, Lydian, Maple Materials, and Universal Matter.
• The Go Energize 2023 startups—which have spent the last six months working with Vineyard Wind and the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center—are ready to show you their solutions for responsible offshore wind development! Join us at the program’s final showcase on Nov. 16.
• Go Build 2023 has named its startup finalists, and you can see them pitch for a spot in the program at the kickoff event on Nov. 30! We hope you’ll join us to launch this accelerator with Saint-Gobain on advancing circularity and decarbonizing the built environment.
• Year 3 of the Carbon to Value (C2V) Initiative is coming to a close with a Nov. 30 final showcase in New York City! The C2V Initiative is a partnership among the Urban Future Lab at New York University-Tandon, Greentown, and Fraunhofer USA and supported by NYSERDA that accelerates the commercialization of carbontech. Join the event to hear from the eight carbontech startups that have participated in the accelerator this year!?
• Corporates: do you have your own decarbonization challenge that could be solved through collaborating with innovative startups? We are actively interested in hearing from you for our Spring and Fall 2024 Greentown Go programs!?

Then there’s exciting news from ACCEL, our accelerator with Browning the Green Space (BGS) to support BIPOC-led startups. We’re honored to share that our collaboration with BGS and Curriculum + Resources Partner VentureWell is a finalist for “Partnership of the Year” in the 2023 NECEC Awards!?

The Texas Entrepreneurship Exchange for Energy(TEX-E) has been busy as well, hosting theTEX-E Bootcamp for Climatetech Entrepreneurship earlier this month, where students from Texas universities connected with educators from the Lone Star State and MIT to learn from leading energy innovation academics and prepare to tackle the climate crisis through entrepreneurship.?

• TEX-E is a first-of-a-kind collaboration among The University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M University, University of Houston, Rice University, and Prairie View A&M University—powered by Greentown and MIT’s Martin Trust Center for Entrepreneurship—to train and empower the next generation of entrepreneurs to lead the energy transition. Last but not least, our members, partners, and team have been gearing up for Greentown’s biggest event of the year—the Climatetech Summit! Happening Nov. 1 in Houston and Nov. 2 in Boston, the summit is an opportunity for the entire climatetech ecosystem to convene around groundbreaking technologies. • American Battery Technology Company?(ABTC) started operating its lithium-ion battery recycling facility in Nevada and announced it’ll serve as a battery recycler for a national mail-in e-waste program. The company was also listed on the Nasdaq as a publicly traded company.?
• Osmoses raised?$11M in seed funding?to bring its molecule-scale membranes to the hydrogen market.
• Syzygy Plasmonics signed an investment agreement with Greentown partner Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
• rStream is piloting its waste-management tech in the dining halls at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Nov. 1-2: Greentown Labs Climatetech Summit?—?We’re excited to welcome you, your colleagues, and all the climate champions in your life into our Houston, TX and Boston, MA incubators for a day of hands-on exploration with our 200+ startups and their climatetech solutions; keynotes and sessions featuring leaders across climatetech, finance, policy, and justice; and networking with industry trailblazers.?

• The Greentown Boston speaking portion is sold out, but there are a limited number of tickets remaining for Greentown Houston’s! Check out the Houston agenda and speaker lineup, featuring keynote speaker John Hall, president and CEO of the Houston Advanced Research Center.?
• Our members will be pitching, showcasing, and enthusiastically networking. Take a look at the Houston and Boston agendas to see which startups you’ll get to meet! Startup Spotlight

Think of SkyH2O stations as a one-stop-shop for EV charging, sustainable snacks and beverages, and freshly bottled water. What makes them stand out? These stations’ primary offering, potable water, is created on-site through atmospheric water generation. Learn more about the startup, which plans to build more than 100 of its stations—each of which can produce 200,000 liters of water per day—in the next five years!
