What’s New at GreenBlue?
GreenBlue Org
Dedicated to the sustainable use of materials in society. Focused on packaging, green chemistry, and recycling.
This year, the GreenBlue team has been reminded time and again of the urgency and the importance of our work. Between extreme weather events, environmental pollution, and an erosion of trust in recycling, the evidence that we need to act is all around us.?
In our semi-annual newsletter, I’ll walk you through updates from our organization—updates that demonstrate the problems, the solutions, and the progress we’ve made toward building sustainable systems.?
Along the way, we hope that you’ll learn something new—something actionable. Because our progress as an organization relies on people just like yourself, taking something away from one of our resources or events, and putting it into action. Thanks for all you do.

Moving the Mission Forward: Lessons From Our Staff Retreat
At GreenBlue, we’re on a mission to build a stronger, safer natural environment for generations to come by advancing sustainability.
For our organization, being fully remote is one of the key ways we advance our mission. Once a year, we gather together to get valuable in-person time with our team.?
During our staff retreat in Charleston this year, we got together to learn more about ourselves, each other, our shared history, and the world we want to build. Dive into what our team learned and gained during GreenBlue’s second annual staff retreat in Charleston, South Carolina.?

What Happens When Our Waste Outlives Us??
“The waste system is a global, connected system. And I’ve found that waste falls on the margins and on the marginalized.” - Oliver Franklin-Wallis, Author of Wasteland
At SPC Impact, journalist Oliver Franklin-Wallis spoke with SPC’s Olga Kachook about the secret world of our global waste system. But what can we learn from his research?
In this SPC article, we explore Franklin-Wallis’ three paths forward, through: standardization, transparency, and reduced consumption.
Mission Critical: Our Planet Needs Us to Work Together
If you were on a boat, and water started rushing, would you try to plug the hole, steer away from the waves, and bail the boat out by yourself? Or, would you focus on one of those tasks and ask the other people on board to help?
Solving our global waste crisis is bigger than any one organization. That’s why, when we think about our partners, we think of them as mission critical teammates: people pulling together with us toward solving the global waste crisis.?
In this How2Recycle article, we explore the current and potential partnerships that advance our mission, and along the way, we encourage you to think about your own role in joining our efforts to improve recycling.
