Whether a large, hairy tarantula is snuggling in your palm, or you’re time-traveling to see how climate change will impact life on Earth, Arizona Science Center never disappoints.
The Science Center’s track record as one of the country’s premier destinations for science and discovery will continue to build this fall when it co-hosts along with SciTech Institute a day of opportunities for educators, industry leaders and community members to celebrate and expand Arizona’s vibrant STEM ecosystem.
The 2024 STEM & Innovation Summit is set for 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 22, at the Science Center, 600 E. Washington St. in Phoenix. Registration and details are here.
The theme, “Collaborate - Celebrate - Connect,” will spark dynamic conversations and partnerships around the most important challenges facing STEM education, from kindergarten through career, and our future workforce.
Beth Nickel, the Science Center's Chief Academic Officer, described the goal nicely: “It provides an avenue for organizations to connect and investigate collaborative endeavors that benefit Arizona’s youth and the state’s economic success."
This is the 14th year of the state’s largest convening of the STEM community. For the first time, leaders from various industries are developing sessions to help summit participants learn about emerging technologies.
These new learning tracks include:

Professional development for educators will be available, as is access to dozens of exhibitors, live science demos, and talks by STEM leaders across Arizona. Resources, educational technology, and hands-on activities for teachers to use in their classrooms also will be shared.
Also new to the summit: We’re accepting session proposals from the community on a variety of topics. Get ready to share your own work with the STEM community by submitting your proposal (due Sept. 22) here.
