Replacing SSA Grain Postharvest Loss with Nutrition
6 个月Applaud dmtr's intentions. Incentives, however, promoting CGIAR input-production despite postharvest food loss or rot, do not yield cost-effective nutrition. Assuming WFP distribution containers are cost-effective, stabilizes the structures which guarantee that rot leads poverty and insecurity. https://www.NATURE.com/articles/d41586-020-02849-6 Incentivizing inputs and distribution that ignores rot, empowers philanthropists/investors like Warc Africa. Warc uses digital hubs* to monitor harvest production and employ the risk of rot by scheduling credit repayment when glut prices are lowest and quality is highest. For the growers, the postharvest logistics are: - Repay/sell at painfully low prices - Suffer vicious rot in local storage - Reduce inputs and plant crops that mine soil, which is why half of the world's arable land (Africa), may be unusable by 2050. https://lnkd.in/eCkypt_i ? It is not equitable to Futurepump Ltd water onto inputs or distribute production, without yield-nutrition. Equitable will end hunger by building grower rights to sustain water, soil and Harvest-tenure that pays for import substitutions. https://lnkd.in/eJ9p46Td FYI Details https://lnkd.in/g2MySbqu *Digital hub FarmerLine https://lnkd.in/eCggdm-d
