What's My 'Heel' Print?
My blog is officially coming to an end (for now).?
Despite this being my busiest semester to date, I can honestly say I’ve soaked up (almost) every moment. It is important to note, I still plan to complete the bucket list by May 14 — 20 days leaves plenty of time.?
I want to say thank you to Gary Kayye?? CTS for this assignment—and also offer an apology for my initial feelings towards it. Had I not been trying to check off bucket list items for the sake of my grade, I doubt there would have been much motivation to try something new each week. Even if I was motivated, I know I would not have taken the time to reflect on each new experience like I did as I wrote about them.?
However, this blog is not a bucket-list blog. It’s more of a “How Will I Leave My ‘Heel’ Print Here at Carolina?” blog (working title?). I think about this fairly often.?
In both classes I took with Livis Freeman , he shared a quote by Maya Angelou with us on LDOC.?
“I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”?
In a massive school like UNC, it can be difficult to go down in the hall of fame for something you did. However, there are plenty of people I know I will not forget purely because they made my time here a little bit better.?
I will never forget going through what felt like online dating in my senior year of high school and meeting the girl who would still be my roommate senior year of college and a lifelong friend after that.?
I will never forget walking into my first class freshman year and feeling so anxious but sitting next to a guy named Carter who, by just being kind, gave me a sense of comfort and became one of my favorite people.?
I will never forget that my sister is always in my corner. Most people say their parents worried most about them when they went off to college. In my case, my sister (who, it should be noted, was also at UNC-CH) would call my roommates to check on me if I did not reply to a text. The girl drove me nuts, but in the best way. Don’t tell her I admitted this, but it’s pretty sweet that she cares so much.

I will never forget taking the coolest class ever with Liv and the eagerness to share stories with my Dad after interviewing some of his favorite players, Eric Montross and Antawn Jamison.
I will never forget house meals with my two best friends at UNC-CH, Hayley and Gabriella Downs . Even if I never learn to cook anything else, I think I could live off our signature pasta.?
I will never forget the strength I saw in my mom after going through a terrifying car accident with her. Not many people could possess such optimism with two broken legs and a broken arm, but she helped me realize the importance in being thankful for the good.
I will never forget walking into my senior year house, “The Jungle,” for the first time and feeling like I was in The Bachelor mansion. There is nothing better than having nine roommates. It made things interesting at all times.?
I will never forget the unspoken comfort there is between all UNC-CH students in the midst of exam season as everyone pulls all-nighters in Davis, but we all know we are doing it together.?
I will never forget the excitement of an Instagram DM two years ago that brought me many putt-putt dates, movie nights and the best boyfriend I could ask for.?
I will never forget how Gary turned a 3-hour, Wednesday night class into my favorite class I’ve ever taken in Chapel Hill.?
The list could go on and on and on.?
I can only hope I’ve been that person to someone in my time here at UNC-CH, but I couldn’t be more grateful for those who have made me feel special these past four years.?
As I finish up these last few weeks and check these last few items off my bucket list, I am going to keep that quote in mind. I think making someone feel loved is maybe the greatest heel print I could possibly leave behind.?
