What's luck got to do with it?

Or, have you been here since this beginning?

Well, if you are new I wanted to make sure you know one thing: I am not lucky.

Yes, I was able to?

• Leave my retail pharmacist job of 8 years.
• Start my own consulting business.
• Write an article for Rx Influencer magazine about what pharmacogenomics means to me
• Be interviewed on multiple podcasts so that I could share my story
• Give multiple presentations and lectures on pharmacogenomics in NC and around the US.

But

Luck had nothing to do with any of these accomplishments or opportunities.

They happened because

1. God has blessed me and provided for me and I have lacked for nothing. And I don't believe in coincidences.
2. I have worked really hard. Hundreds of hours have been spent creating, learning and teaching.
3. I have tapped into the power of networking. I cannot do this on my own.

You are joining me in the middle of my journey.

You haven’t seen everything that came before I got to this point.

I do hope you will continue to stick around because I know many more amazing things are going to happen and I can’t wait to share this journey with you.

If you’re just starting out on your non-traditional pharmacist journey, just know that I, along with other pharmacists you may be following, are not lucky.

We have worked really, really hard to get where we are.??

If you want to do this too, don’t expect success to happen overnight.

Take one small step each day.?

Take that step even on the days when you don’t feel like it.

That is what will set you apart from everyone else.

Grow your network by reaching out and connecting with others who are doing what you’re interested in or who inspire you.

Just start.

Luck will not make you successful.

Hard work will.
