What's leadership ?
While management is a function, a role compared to a status in a given context. Leadership is the personal ability to lead others with itself in a collective project through their voluntary membership.
So while in the first case it is possible to achieve some team performance, it is only through the second approach that we can achieve a level of excellence.
To do this, the leader must be able to mobilize, unite, give the course and communicate. These are the four basic functions of leadership.
Another important point for the proper functioning of a team is the principle of trust. This is based on four components: awareness (understanding personal and others), truth (knowing its various levels), the choice (be aware of his capacity of decision) and the personal presence (full possession of his means and self-esteem). It's by working on these aspects that the leader can bring a team building based on mutual trust.
Note that we are often forced to resort to psychological defense mechanisms that allow us to feel better with ourselves. It is this kind of barriers that the leader must be able to lower in order to bring a constructive synergy.
However, three fundamental directions in interpersonal relationships are observed: the inclusion, control and openness. It's by playing on these factors that the leader can push his team to the top. Thus, it is generally by a first inclusion phase that it can make contact and meet. Then a control step that allows to organize and plan. Then follows the opening moment where one speaks, shares and deepens. Then returns to a monitoring phase to choose and decide. To finally get to the "leaving stage" where we separate.
It is by working on all the above mentioned parameters that the leader is able to galvanize his troops towards a common goal.
