LPGA

In France, Ayaka Furue became a first-time LPGA major winner at the 30th Annual Amundi Evian Championship. Furue posted a stunning 19-under, making her just the fourth Japanese major champion in LPGA Tour history. She previously earned four top-10 finishes in major championships, most recently at the 2024 U.S. Women’s Open.

World No. 1 Nelly Korda tied for 26th at 5-under overall, while defending champion and Frenchwoman Celine Boutier finished in a tie for 39th at 3-under. The prize purse for the Amundi Evian Championship increased from $6.5 million last year to $8 million this year, with $1.2 million awarded to the champion. Less than five years ago, the overall prize purse was nearly half that at $4.1 million. This marks just the third time in the championship's history that the winner has taken home a seven-figure sum.

Motorsport

Last week, All-female racing team the Iron Dames won the 4 Hours of Imola in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS). The team’s pink Porsche took the checkered flag to lift the Iron Dames to third in the standings at the halfway stage of the season. If you haven’t heard of the Iron Dames, they are a force to be reckoned with.?

In 2018, Deborah Mayer launched the Iron Dames project and for five years, the Iron Dames have been pushing the racing world beyond limits and gender barriers. They not only endurance, but also F1 Academy, rally and karting. We’ll dive into the team more in the coming weeks.

WNBA

The WNBA All-Star weekend is just a few days away, and I couldn't be more excited! Kicking off on Friday, July 19 is the WNBA 3-Point Contest and the WNBA Skills Challenge. The big question is whether we’ll see Liberty’s Sabrina Ionescu go head-to-head with Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark. Plus, we're keeping an eye on Las Vegas Aces' Kelsey Plum and Connecticut's Rachel Banham, who’s been on fire with three-pointers lately.

On Saturday, July 20, at 8:30 PM ET on ABC, the WNBA All-Star 2024 Game will showcase the league’s brightest stars. The Olympic USA Basketball Team will face off against the WNBA All-Stars in what promises to be an electrifying matchup. You won't want to miss it!

In league standings, the New York Liberty are still on top with a 20-4 record and a three-game win streak. The Las Vegas Aces are right behind in third place, riding a four-game win streak. Meanwhile, Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever have climbed to seventh place after a win against the Minnesota Lynx.

USWNT

In USWNT news, The Emma Hayes era continues. The team faced Mexico on Saturday, winning 1-0. The U.S.’s lone goal came from the familiar frontline duo of Smith and Mallory Swanson. The two, along with winger Trinity Rodman and attacking midfielder Rose Lavelle, played off each other, creating a number of dangerous chances in the final third.

There is still work to be done, with one more friendly against Costa Rica before facing Zambia, Australia and Germany in the group stages of the Paris Olympics. Usa vs Costa Rica will be on Tonight July 16th at 7:30 PM ET on TNT and Max.
