What’s keeping you safe is also keeping you stuck!

So I want you to be really honest with yourself. Are you playing it safe in life?
Does any of this sound familiar?
Safe Job. You loathe your job as it no longer challenges you but it feels stable so you just remain where you are.
Safe Relationship. It no longer excites you the way it used to but it feels stable and you don’t want to be alone.
Safe body. You have put on a lot of weight and do not particularly like how you look but it feels comfortable so you do nothing about it.
Safe business. You are earning an income every month although it is not how much you desire but it covers the bills (just about it) but you are scared to grow and scale as you feel it will exhaust more of your time and energy.
Did you know that our brains are hardwired to keep us safe, not to make us happy. So that's why we need to keep stepping outside of our comfort zone.
We tend to hold tight to the things that make us feel safe, even if they aren't serving us. And often the thing that is keeping us safe, is really keeping us stuck.
No growth can come about from our safe “known zone” as I like to call it.
How long have you been at this current level in life?
SAME INCOME LEVEL
SAME JOB POSITION
SAME LEVEL IN BUSINESS
SAME INCONSISTENT RESULTS
For years I was in a job which didn’t really feel aligned. It was just because the pay was good and I loved the people I worked with (well some of them) but something wasn’t clicking for me. I kept feeling deep in the pit of my stomach that this was not meant for me anymore.
I was coasting in life.
It felt like I was experiencing a groundhog day, with the same routine repeating over and over again.
A living nightmare.
I wasn’t happy.
Have you ever felt that? This gut feeling that something just wasn't right? But the idea of making a change scared the sh*t out of you?

I believe we are given these gut feelings or intuitive nudges for a reason, and that we really should trust them more often. Our intuition is one of our strongest allies, and when it is telling you something, its probably best you listen.
It was when I made the conscious decision to leave that job that ?I instantly felt free.
I felt like I had reclaimed my life back.
I had been living in a cage for far too long.
That's the funny thing about cages. While they keep you safe, they also keep you small and stuck.
Here are 3 things you can take action on to break free of the cage you're in.?
1. Get honest with yourself about why you are still in a situation that isn't serving you. This won't be a comfortable conversation with yourself, but dig deep and call out the comfort you get from staying small, and what you are truly afraid of when it comes to changing.?
2. Ask yourself what you WANT. Sit with that and picture what your ideal situation would be. What is in your deepest heart that you desire. Ask yourself how you can start taking steps in that direction. Feel into what your ultimate purpose is for this season in your life.?
3. Get to work. It all starts with a single decision, even if it is a scary one. But once you decide that the?pain?of staying the same is worse than the fear of the unknown, you're on the edge of freedom. Make a plan to break free, and take action.?
Where in your life are you keeping yourself small? Is that serving your ultimate purpose? Is the safety of your cage keeping you from reaching your true potential?
Maybe its time to take that leap, and grow your wings on the way down.

2 年Well said, great piece here. It's also true that at one time the thing that we cling to was a new level for us and something that served but as we expanded we grew past it but hesitate letting go! Love this part.... "That's the funny thing about cages. While they keep you safe, they also keep you small and stuck."
